First day of Champions League group stage full of golazos

If you watched the opening day of the Champions League group stage, you were treated to a buffet of wonderful goals. There were almost too many to keep track of, so here are some of the best.

To kick it off, Vladimir Weiss took on Paris Saint-Germain’s defense and made them look rather silly:

But later, the world’s highest-paid player Cristiano Ronaldo one-upped Weiss with this mind-boggling run through Galatasaray’s tattered and torn backline:

And of course, there was no shortage of curling strikes. Yaya Toure’s effort for Manchester City against Plzen was quite beautiful:

While Bayer Leverkusen was soundly beaten by Manchester United, Simon Rolfes gave them something to smile about. This one bent so ridiculously it froze David de Gea in his tracks:

If Tuesday’s incredible wealth of goals are a sign of what is to come in this year’s Champions League action, we’re giddy with excitement.
