More than 100 people are believed to have been injured after an entire football stand collapsed minutes before a match in India. The stand at the “brand-new” Bekal Brothers Sports Club broke down as a young boy was juggling on the pitch.
According to The Guardian, initial reports suggest that heavy rain saturated the wood used to build the stand, weakening it and causing it to collapse under the weight of almost 1,500 spectators.
Six of the over 100 injured people are reported to be in serious condition, and local police have opened a criminal investigation against the club and the construction company.
Here now is an additional angle of the collapse:FOX Soccer wishes everyone affected a speedy recovery.
