Dzeko Follows Up Spectacular Volley with Atrocious Penalty

It doesn’t matter how long they’ve trained, nor how long they’ve been professional athletes. Sometimes, even the best players in the world suffer from blunders in between their moments of brilliance — something that Manchester City star Edin Dzeko can attest to after his team’s recent Barclays Asia Trophy match against Sunderland.

Battling for a starting position with new signings Stevan Jovetic and Alvaro Negredo joining the team, Dzeko started brightly with a stunning volley only a few minutes into the match.

The goodwill that Dzeko had built up, however, might have evaporated with a horrific penalty he took in the second half.

For Edin’s sake, let’s just hope that new City manager Manuel Pellegrini dozed off after halftime.

Mourinho wants some Dutch courage at Chelsea

Jose Mourinho has already been pretty busy after being officially unveiled as Chelsea boss, bringing German forward Andre Schurrle to the club and monitoring the likes of Wayne Rooney, Edinson Cavani and Stevan Jovetic.

Well, now the “Special One” has his eye on a different target; Dutch maestro Wesley Sneijder. Having managed the playmaker during his successful stint at Inter Milan, Mourinho is keen to bring the veteran midfielder to Stamford Bridge.

Going the other way through the door could be striker Fernando Torres, who Mourinho has admitted has been a disappointment at Chelsea so far. Where could the Spaniard be off to? Read about this rumor and more, including the whereabouts of Wayne Rooney, Carlos Tevez and Yohan Cabaye, read today’s Paper Chase.

Manchester City looks into striker swap

It’s certainly going to be a busy summer for Manchester City.

Roberto Mancini’s departure has left them manager-less, and their relentless mission of European dominance will definitely continue into the coming months with some heavy investment.

First on the list appears to be Napoli’s Edinson Cavani. The Uruguayan striker regularly tops the goal charts in Serie A, but he’ll come with a heavy price tag after building up a huge reputation in Europe. A possible makeweight for the deal has been touted as City’s top scorer this season, Edin Dzeko, who, despite the goals, still appears to be out-of-favor with the club.

As far as we can see that sounds a pretty good deal for all involved, but who else are City looking at? Also, what does the future hold for Gareth Bale, and where is Stevan Jovetic headed? Find out about these rumors and more over at today’s Paper Chase.
