Ethiopia international and Kaizer Chiefs defender Morgan Gould punched an opponent in the face this weekend — right in front of the referee — and got away with it!
Gould was covering Bidvest Wits attacker Getaneh Kebede 1-on-1 when he suddenly threw a left hook, flooring Kebede immediately.
Despite his attack being so blatantly vicious, and with the referee just a few yards away, Gould was only shown a yellow card! The knockout has sent South Africa into an uproar and forced the Premier Soccer League (PSL) to look into the matter.
Though we’re fairly certain there’s no need for a thorough investigation here, Gould attempted to make his case in an unintentionally hilarious tweet:
I wud like to apologize to the Wits player that I punch it was a freak accident….#MG83— Morgan Gould (@mor_gould)
For some reason, we don’t believe him.
If it seems like it was just a week or two ago that we showed you another clip of a player staging his own fight night on the soccer pitch — and getting away with it — you’re right. This happened only two weekends ago, and in this case the culprit got completely off the hook:
What is going on these days!?
