Oh boy.

A referee of a German amateur soccer game confused goalposts in perhaps the most unique officiating gaffe we’ve seen in a long time.

Playing on a pitch that also serves as a football field (the other football), Oberliga sides Altona 93 and Vier-und Marschlande were stunned when a V&M player scored a goal after the ball had bounced off the yellow upright of the football goal post and back into play.  Mistaking the yellow upright for the goal’s crossbar, the referee amazingly let the goal stand!

Poor Carlos Tevez.

First, the Argentinian striker was subbed out during the FA Cup final despite being perhaps City’s best player at the time. Then he had to take a long walk up the Wembley steps to receive the runners-up medal (never fun, and never easy to do in cleats). And then, to cap off a truly horrible day, Tevez took an ugly spill walking back down those harrowing steps of doom (scroll to 1:30 mark).

Had Tevez only seen the match official take a similar slip just a minute earlier, maybe he would have saved himself from a bruised behind.

Safe to say this isn’t exactly how you’d picture your debut at your new club to go.

Goalkeeper Radu Mitu played his first game for Moldovan side Milsami-Ursidos on Saturday. Hopefully it wasn’t his last.

After saving a weak shot from distance, Mitu attempted to quickly throw the ball out to a team-mate, but instead the ball (perhaps sticking to his gloves) incredulously lands in his own net! A goalkeeper’s worst nightmare.

It gets more and more ridiculous every time you watch it.

Roma “tough guy” Daniele De Rossi attempted an absolute shocker of a dive in front of the referee in this weekend’s match against Chievo Verona. He pushed himself off Chievo defender Dario Dainelli and acted as if he had just been shot, and immediately collapsed to the ground.

Shameful is really the only way to describe this act. Thankfully, the referee didn’t have any of it, and it’s probably appropriate karma that Roma lost the match 1-0, which dented their chances to qualify for European competition next season.

Year after year, the Australian soccer league is the gift that keeps on giving.

Going back to 2008, there is a blooper reel produced each season with all of the kicks to the to you-know-where, goofy celebrations, unbelievable misses and other gaffes.

Well the wait for the 2012-13 edition is over, so get ready to point and laugh for a solid 10 minutes at the Hyundai A-League blooper reel (yes, these all happened just this season).

Time after time, Gareth Bale gets us on our feet with his tendency to score breath-taking goals. But today, Bale took the easy route, scoring on this bizarre block of Wigan keeper Joel Robles’ attempted clearance!

Watch as the ball just ricochets off Bale’s body and into the net, leaving Robles red-faced and ashamed. To make matters worse for Robles, Wigan teammate Emmerson Boyce added an own goal late in the game. The two unlucky goals turned out to be the difference between what would have been a shocking win over Spurs and a 2-2 draw that helps neither team.

Norwegian club returns to find road built over their field

image

When the Norwegian club Ny Krohnburg IL returned from their offseason break, they were met with an unwelcomed surprise: a road that was built right over the pitch. The strangest part about it, this was the second time in three years that this has happened!

Khronburg chairman Radney Thomsen shared his thoughts:

“We were quite shocked when we discovered that the road cut [into the pitch]. The start of the season is just around the corner, but no one had informed us. We feel simply run over.”

“It’s downright scary that the various sports clubs that use the pitch have not been told. They have “forgotten” to give notice for the second time in three years. This is not good enough.”

This would probably be a good time to look for a new field to play on.

Lecce Winger Ousmane Dramè’s Monday night sexcapade gone wrong

image

Blogging Gods, we accept and thank you for your gift.

Italian third-division side Lecce had to deal with a rather bizarre police report this week after winger Ousmane Dramè reportedly attempted to solicit the services from a Nigerian prostitute with his iPhone 5 as his form of payment.

According to Italian news agency ANSA, the 20-year-old Frenchmen then apparently changed his mind about giving up his iPhone (who can blame him?) and allegedly stole the prostitute’s purse and took off on a bicycle.

Wait, it gets weirder. ANSA published further details:

A Lecce soccer player was charged Monday for (ed: allegedly) stealing a purse from a prostitute and fleeing by bicycle after reneging on a deal to give her his iPhone 5 for sex.

Ousmane Dramè, a French national and striker for the third-division club, was reportedly chased down by a transsexual friend of the robbed Nigerian streetwalker after the incident early Monday.

Police also charged Dramè with injuring the transsexual when he allegedly tripped him as he tried to wrest the purse from his hands.

Oh that is all? Just your typical Monday night out then.

The club reacted with a statement on its website claiming they would suspend Dramé and terminate his contract if the “facts were confirmed.”

You know it’s bad when your opponents regretfully come over to pat you on the back and tell you everything’s gonna be OK.

Poor Utrecht defender Mike van der Hoorn nicked in an embarrassing own goal this weekend that gave AZ a 4-0 lead before halftime. After the Utrecht defense already let USMNT striker Jozy Altidore score a hat trick within 10 minutes earlier in the half, van der Hoorn’s miscue sealed all hopes for a comeback.

Barnsley forced to wear Crystal Palace away kits!

Before Saturday’s Championship tilt between Crystal Palace and Barnsley, referee Kevin Stroud decided that the visitor’s black and blue striped away kits, as well as their red home kits, were both too similar to Crystal Palace’s red and blue striped home uniforms.

The solution? Barnsley was forced to borrow Palace’s away kits!

The game itself ended in a 0-0 draw, making Palace’s kit sponsors the only real winners!
