Premier League giants Chelsea close on Guarin deal?

image

Chelsea appear to have been big admirers of Guarin for some time and it looks like they may finally be getting their man. The Stamford Bridge outfit don’t appear to be short on midfielders but with the Colombian’s instrumental performance in the Milan derby he could’ve just won over manager Jose Mourinho.

Jose Mourinho literally laughs off Wayne Rooney rumors

Transfer rumors really are just that: Rumors.

While it’s been no secret that Chelsea manager has an affinity for Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney, it’s highly unlikely he’d acknowledge any speculation at this time. After all, ‘tis the season for dodging questions!

So, when Mou was asked again about Chelsea being linked with Rooney, the manager laughed it off and asked, “Linked by who?”

Chuckles were had, but the whole room really had a laugh when a member of the media fessed up and said, “Me!”

It gave Mourinho the perfect scapegoat for the question. Jose redirected any further pressing by the original reporter to the one claiming responsibility for the rumor.

And in the end, all of us are left to ponder the truth.

Manchester City look for goalkeeper alternatives, eye player swap

Manchester City continue to dominate transfer headlines this week, despite their mauling over Premier League side Tottenham over the weekend. This time — to no surprise really — under-fire goalkeeper Joe Hart is the center of a purposed deal that will send the England No. 1 to Stoke City for Bosnian goalkeeper Asmir Begovic during the winter transfer window. Pepe Reina seen telling Iker Casillas to leave Real Madrid?

What is it with Spanish keepers and transfer rumors.

The future of Barcelona shot-stopper Victor Valdes has been questioned for years now, with Liverpool’s on-loan no.1 Pepe Reina reported to be heading the other way into the Camp Nou.

Recent events have seen Iker Casillas seemingly edging closer to a move from Real Madrid soon enough, with coach Carlo Ancelotti continuing Jose Mourinho’s work of putting Diego Lopez between the sticks on match days.

This latest video could be further indication of Casillas’ unhappiness at the Bernabeu, too.

Warming up before Spain’s 2-1 victory over Belarus on Friday, back-up keepers Casillas and Reina were seen chatting, unbeknownst to them that the cameras were to pick up exactly what they were saying.

Indeed, unfortunately for them, Spanish TV channel Cuatro was amongst the media at the friendly and they’ve managed to secure a now translated lip-read conversation between the two, which went something like this:

Reina: How many could it be? 10? 12? (Games you’ll play this season)

Iker: Yeah, but in the end…. -

Reina: In the end, it’s a [expletive] season… Because in the end you’re going to play, at best, 10 or 12 Cup games.

Iker: ‘But to leave now…I can’t see that happening man… at least I’ll play the Cup.

Reina: The Cup! That’s embarrassing, shameful.

Credit to Casillas for wanting to remain loyal to Los Blancos, but would a transfer breathe fresh life into the career of one of the world’s best keepers?

Evergreen Juventus midfielder Andrea Pirlo is out of contract at the end of the season and is free to talk to other clubs in January. Find out which ones by clicking here.

Ronaldo inks Real Madrid contract extension, puts end to Man United rumors

image

Cristiano Ronaldo signed a new 5-year contract with Real Madrid on Sunday at the Santiago Bernabeu, effectively (hopefully?) ending the incessant rumors of CR7 rejoining Manchester United once and for all.

During his presser, Ronaldo was specifically asked about a return to Old Trafford at a future date, and the striker’s response was clear as day:

Spain players reportedly staged strip poker party on night of hotel robbery

image

Thomas Hautmann (@HautmannOnFOX)

A few days ago, news broke that several Spanish players’ rooms were broken into and robbed at the Confederations Cup.

Maybe they forgot to mention a few minor details.

According to overwhelming reports from Brazil, on the night in question several women were allegedly seen entering the players’ rooms where they all played a round of strip poker before the robbery took place.

Hotel employees reportedly told Brazilian media giant Globo that players ordered a band to come play in the room to celebrate Spain’s opening match victory over Uruguay. The report adds that the band played until 1 a.m. and that the five women joined five players and members of the technical staff for a late-night game of adult entertainment. It wasn’t until later in the morning that several players, including Shakira’s boyfriend Gerard Pique, discovered cash and valuables stolen from their rooms.

Though the Spanish federation acknowledged that six of its players were robbed at the team hotel, the players and Spanish football association have called these reports a “total lie.”

Either way, someone has some serious explaining to do.
