Forgetting something ref?

In the second half of the match between Reading and Liverpool, Referee Mark Clattenburg tried to issue a yellow card for Danny Guthrie’s foul of Liverpool’s Daniel Sturridge. The only problem is, Clattenburg had left his notebook, which contained his yellow and red cards, in the locker room at halftime.

Thankfully, the fourth official was able to provide the assist and make sure that Guthrie saw the physical evidence that he was getting booked.

It just goes to show you that (surprise!) even the top officials aren’t perfect.

Who knew that vuvuzelas can hurt more than just your ears?

A referee in South Africa was attacked this Saturday by a pitch invader wielding the colorful, plastic horn that plagued all of us during the 2010 World Cup. Why? The man was so upset over a red card given out during the game (between Kaiser Chiefs and Golden Arrows) that he felt the need to run onto the pitch and hit him with his vuvuzela. That’s reasonable.

Fortunately, the ref didn’t get seriously hurt, and the invader was taken down after getting in just one solid whack.
