Carmelo Anthony visits Real Madrid training, shows off solid juggling skills

While Real Madrid were at the campus at UCLA preparing for the International Champions Cup this week, NBA superstar Carmelo Anthony stopped by a training session.

Melo juggled a ball around (with some surprising skill, actually!), took a few headers and had a turn in goal before a photo session with players:

What stood out most in the video, though, was just how simply towering the 6-foot-8 Anthony is. Anthony’s sheer size makes the defending European champions look like a youth squad.

Given the United States men’s national team’s recent exit from the World Cup, the mind can’t help but wonder how awesome it’d be to have athletes of Carmelo’s caliber roaming around the field.

With that height and a 30+ inch vertical leap, it’d be seemingly impossible for him not to score! Or, perhaps his massive wingspan would be better served in between the posts.

With a little practice, maybe he’d be willing to serve in a Tim Krul-like role for the national team. Good luck trying to slot a penalty past that!

Then again, Anthony just inked a contract with the New York Knicks worth upward of $122 million. We’ll continue to dream on!

Head-scratcher: What has Pepe done to his hair?

No, seriously, we want to know. What has Pepe done to his hair?

The summer can be a bit boring for some footballers, but certainly there’s a better way than THAT to spice things up.

His hair looks like a bare tree!

Maybe it’s a defensive technique, since someone could poke an eye out going up for a header against him.

What makes matters worse is he’s currently in California for the International Champions Cup. If this becomes the next American fad hairstyle, we’re calling it quits. Bring back the Bieber … anything!

Hopefully Pepe lost a bet, and this coiffure nightmare is all just a joke that will soon disappear.

Cristiano Ronaldo joins Japanese TV show, hilarity ensues

Cristiano Ronaldo is about as straight-laced as professional athletes get. His work ethic is the stuff of legend, and rarely is he seen goofing off when there are trophies to be won.

So, popping the Portuguese star on a zany Japanese TV show was a recipe for awesomeness. Right from the start the Real Madrid talisman appears uncomfortable, with fog machines, crazy lights and a mob of fans that seem just a bit too close.

Of course, Ronaldo is then given a bouquet of flowers with which he has no idea what to do with, and a life-size photo of him shirtless and flexing is subsequently walked out onto the stage.

The highlight of the entire spectacle comes at the 2:25 mark in the video, where one of the hosts tries out the “facial fitness” product Ronaldo has brought around. It’s tremendous to watch by itself, but even better in GIF form:

CR7’s reaction says it all. Hilarious!

James Rodriguez signs 6-year deal with Real Madrid

Colombia’s World Cup hero James Rodriguez cashed in on his summer exploits, signing a lucrative six-year deal with the reigning Champions League winners.

The transfer fee has not been released, but reports suggest Madrid paid in the region of 80 million euros ($108 million) for Rodriguez, which would make him the fourth most expensive transfer of all time after Gareth Bale, Cristiano Ronaldo and Luis Suarez.

Yes, Real Madrid will now field three of the four most expensive players EVER in the same squad. Talk about your ultimate fantasy all-star team…

Real Madrid to wear hot pink away kits next season

Real Madrid revealed their new kits for the 2014/15 season via Twitter on Monday, and they’re certain to raise some eyebrows.

While Real’s home kits remain traditionally white, the away kit is all PINK everything. And not just any pink — hot pink!

Earlier Monday, everyone’s go-to kit blog Todo Sobre Camisetas leaked images of the flashy new uniforms:

Real might want to back order these bad boys right now! You just know the shirts will be flying off the shelves, especially those with the number ‘7’ on the back.

Here’s a sneak peek at what Cristiano Ronaldo might look like in action next year:

Sergio Ramos gets tattoo of Champions League trophy

image

After winning the 2010 World Cup with Spain, Sergio Ramos got a tattoo of the famous trophy on his right calf. The tat’s location was a peculiar choice, as his left calf looked rather bare in comparison.

Alas, now we know what Ramos had in mind all along. He was simply saving room for the other big prize in soccer, one he hadn’t yet earned - the Champions League trophy.

After Real Madrid’s win last weekend, one he helped engineer with his last-gasp equalizer in regulation time, Ramos got the ink done to complete his on-the-body “trophy case.”

Cristiano Ronaldo didn’t celebrate Sergio Ramos’ epic goal in UCL final

Cristiano Ronaldo is the best soccer player in the world today. That’s not even up for debate at the moment.

But for all his incredible talent, Ronaldo still hasn’t learned how to appreciate someone else’s. The Champions League final provided us with the latest - and by far strongest - piece of evidence:

Judging from Ronaldo’s reaction, you would’ve thought Sergio Ramos’ dramatic equalizer in stoppage time of (again) the Champions League final was actually a meaningless goal scored in the preseason.

Come! On!

Not even a quick stroll over to the corner flag to give Ramos a pat on the back for saving his the day?

Of course, Ronaldo couldn’t wait to rip his shirt off and go into a full-body flex as if he was running for Mr. Olympia after scoring on a penalty kick in the final seconds of extra time, when Real had already put the game to bed:

Ronaldo, you are the best. But would it kill you to not be such a blatant egomaniac?
