President Obama makes good on USA-Belgium World Cup beer bet

image

Barack Obama has a lot on his plate at the moment, but the POTUS still found time to make good on his World Cup bet with his Belgian counterpart.

As you may remember, Belgium’s Prime Minister Elio Di Rupo tweeted Obama a friendly wager ahead of the two nations’ Round of 16 tie, with the loser having to send a case of the country’s finest beer to the other. Though he never tweeted back, Obama accepted. Secretary of Defense Tim Howard did everything he could, but Belgium eventually squeaked out the win in extra time.

Two months later, Obama finally paid up, sending the Belgian embassy in Washington D.C. a case of Sam Adams Boston Lager, as well as a case of the Boston brewery’s seasonal variety pack. Fancy! (The POTUS’ choice was also pointed: Sam Adams is America’s largest USA-owned craft brewery.)

Attached was also a handwritten note from Obama personally, which ends with this great line: “As Americans, we’re always grateful for the partnership with our Belgian allies. Except on the pitch. See you in 2018.”

Sounds like a new bet!

President Obama plays soccer with Japanese robot because why not

The robot takeover is upon us. Run for your lives. IT’S HAPPENING!

Alright, alright, not exactly. Maybe robots will take over the world one day, but thankfully we’re not there yet.

We are, however, now living in an age where a robot has a better first touch than the President of the United States. Sorry, Barack, but this Japanese masterpiece has you beat:

You might want to keep your day job, Mr. President.

President Barack Obama shows off his impressive soccer moves

Juggling a global financial crisis, a possible insertion in Syria (and not to mention being a father and husband) can’t be an easy task for anyone. But juggling a soccer ball? All in a day’s work for the POTUS.

Barack Obama dropped by a high school in New York and crashed the practice of the girls and boys soccer teams. The Commander-in-Chief deftly takes a first touch for a quick juggle before greeting the entire boys team.

When’s the last time a guy in slacks and dress shoes moseyed onto a high school practice field and elicited that kind of awesome reaction? Truly a once-in-a-lifetime moment, and a reminder to youngsters to stay in school:
