Manchester United fans experience every emotion possible in just 22 seconds

This season hasn’t been kind to Manchester United fans. After more than two decades of success under Sir Alex Ferguson, the sudden dip in form (and position on the table) has left Red Devils’ fans in a pit of despair.

When the once-fearsome club took on mighty Bayern Munich on Wednesday, no one expected Patrice Evra to score a stunner to give the visitors a 1-0 lead.

Euphoria. Tears of joy. Cloud nine. Hope.

But just 22 short seconds later, United fans came crashing back to Earth. Mario Mandzukic shut down the party before it even had a chance to really get started.

It was hard enough for United fans watching from afar to digest what unfolded on their televisions; for the supporters at the Allianz Arena, the pain was tenfold.

It’s the hope that kills you.

Bayern Munich deny pair of English newspapers access to Allianz Arena

Bayern Munich have denied two popular English newspapers accreditation for the Champions League return leg against Manchester United next week after publishing disparaging headlines involving Bastian Schweinsteiger.

Bayern released an e-mailed statement condemning both The Sun and The Mirror for reporting in “disrespectful, discriminatory and personally abusive manner” on Schweinsteiger. Both papers had, perhaps foolishly, opted to play on the German word “Schwein,” which means “pig.”

We’re used to seeing edgy headline puns from the English press, but they seem to have crossed the line just a bit in this instance. We highly doubt, however, that a stadium ban will make them think twice next time.

Man Utd win the battle for Gundogan

According to the Daily Star on Sunday, Manchester United are convinced they have won the £25 million race for Borussia Dortmund’s midfielder Ilkay Gundogan. If true, this would be the first piece of business in a busy summer of transfers for the Red Devils. The central midfield position has been a long-term target for United and they’ll be happy to get it sorted early doors.

Manchester clubs battle for Mangala

In January it was rumored that Manchester City missed out on Porto star Eliaquim Mangala. This summer they look set to go back for the highly-coveted defender and could be rivaled by Manchester neighbors United for his signature. The France under-21 international is thought to be valued at around £35 million by the Portuguese club.

Beckham wants CR7 Miami deal

Following the confirmation of David Beckham’s new team in Miami, he pledged to bring some of the world’s best stars to USA’s east coast. Well, he could be starting to deliver on his promise already. In Sunday’s newspapers the former LA Galaxy midfielder has been linked with bringing Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo to Miami.

Other rumors in the tabloids focus on Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney signing a new contract and Robin van Persie potentially rejoining Arsenal.

Manchester United pay homage to Munich Air Disaster victims

If you follow Manchester United’s official Twitter page, you are already aware that today, February 6th, marks the 56th anniversary of the Munich air disaster — the plane crash that took the lives of 23 people, including eight United players and three staff members back in 1958.

Anyone connected with the club has since recognized February 6th as “the darkest day;” the disaster robbed United of a team that was considered to be on the verge of dominating European football at the time.

On every anniversary, the club pays tribute to those who lost their lives in a variety of ways. Each year, at 3:04pm GMT, supporters traditionally flock to Old Trafford to pay their respects, and on the club website you can find a great deal of content that help recount the full story. The club will also pay homage to the victims ahead of this weekend’s home match vs Fulham.

Adnan Januzaj gets free Nando’s after date tells all

Just because rising Manchester United star Adnan Januzaj makes £30,000 a week doesn’t mean he has to spend it all in one place. Or more specifically, on one date.

Well, the youngster apparently learned a hard lesson in love when he took a woman out on a date and she was left rather upset.

According to The Sun, Januzaj took Melissa McKenzie to the famous casual chicken join Nando’s — he even had her drive him and pay for parking. McKenzie wasn’t too thrilled:

"I’ve never met anyone so stingy in my life," she told The Sun. “I was so excited for the date.”

"I expected him to come to me in a flashy car, but I ended up driving him about in my old blue Fiesta and I was left to pay and display. Then he said he was taking me to Nando’s – my face fell."

"I usually go there for a quick bite to eat with my mates. I didn’t expect to be going there on a date with a Man United footballer, especially in my dress and heels."

McKenzie certainly didn’t get what she expected on the date, and Januzaj himself got a little surprise too.

If her story is true, it’s actually kind of sweet that the kid took his date to a low-key place (not to mention that Nando’s is delicious). Footballers are real people too!
