This is what happens when pro footballers play against children

The only way to make a scrimmage between young kids and real, actual footballers somewhat competitive is to outnumber the professionals by a large margin.

But even then, it’s never really fair fight. It does, however, lead to really amusing plays and goals, like this one from John Terry:

Let’s see them try that one against a real team and see how far they get.

10-year-old boy back on the pitch after losing part of his leg in accident

In October of last year, 10-year-old Adrian Grajeda lost part of his right leg after a car drove through a fence at his school, and debris from the crash hit him while he was playing soccer.

Adrian showed more bravery in that moment than most people do in a lifetime, helping to save another young child that was on the field.

"Three witnesses recall Adrian helped a girl, he pushed a girl out of the way of the car so the item struck him not the little girl," his mother told KESQ.

Four surgeries and seven blood transfusions later — including his leg being amputated below the knee — Adrian has returned to action with the help of a prosthetic leg.

"I hope I can get better with my legs, so I can shoot better and get better at running," Adrian told KESQ. That will be difficult with his current prosthetic, which doesn’t bend at the ankle. But that doesn’t mean that Adrian will give up any time soon. This kid is a warrior, and has unmatched positivity.

"I mean I can’t really bend at the ankle, so I can’t shoot with my right foot, but it’s cool because I can still walk," he said.

Adrian’s family is trying to raise money to help him get an athletic prosthetic so he can continue improving his game. You can find ways to help here.

Little boy interrupts Brazil friendly, Neymar handles introductions

image

D’awww!

At the end of Brazil’s 5-0 friendly win against South Africa in Johannesburg, a little boy ran onto the pitch looking to greet his idols, and sure enough, he got that chance! Despite security’s efforts to retrieve the “pitch invader,” Neymar ran over to the boy, picked him up, and introduced him to the entire team.

It’s precisely moments like this that give soccer its reputation as “The Beautiful Game.”

Steven Gerrard put on the spot by 10-year-old Liverpool fan

In one of our favorite recurring segments, Kop Kids presents another sit-down interview with a young fan and a club superstar.

Here we see 10-year-old Reds fan Finn getting a chance to sit down with Liverpool and England captain Steven Gerrard.

Some highlights:

  • What Gerrard has on his Christmas list
  • Which players give Gerrard the most cheek
  • The England captain’s favorite actor is Robert De Niro
  • Gerrard can’t stand sprouts
  • Young Finn gets the exclusive on Gerrard’s breakfast
  • The boy actually has a pretty righteous shot!

The whole video is so darn cute that’s it worth watching by itself, but Finn actually gives a pretty informative interview. All we can say is: Enjoy!

Daniel Agger gives young fan shirt after plunking him with ball

Well, that’s one way to go about getting a soccer player’s shirt.

Liverpool defender Daniel Agger, training with Denmark’s national team, sent a wayward ball that wound up finding the face of an unsuspecting kid behind the goal.

Upon realizing he’d drilled someone, Agger, ever the nice gent that he is, went to go check on the fan.

Cool enough, right? Well, it gets even cooler. Agger then hopped over the barrier — much to the amusement of the other kids — to make sure the youngster was OK.

After a short conversation, the Danish international then gave the dazed boy his shirt.

What a memorable experience! And in case the woozy fan might be a little foggy on the details, he can just turn to the tape.
