In the family: Best of the best soccer siblings for National Siblings Day

In honor of National Siblings Day, we’re bringing you some of the best sibling action you’ll see on the soccer pitch:

Kristie and Samantha Mewis (USA)

These sisters have dreamed of playing soccer together for the US women’s national team since they were little girls. During the 2014 Algarve Cup, that dream became a reality:

Gonzalo and Federico Higuain (Argentina)

Gonzalo is clearly the more well-known Higuain, but older brother Federico has also had a decent career in soccer. He currently plays for the Columbus Crew, and scores really pretty goals, like this one:

Eden and Thorgan Hazard (Belgium)

Big brother Eden may be stealing the headlines now, but 21-year-old Thorgan isn’t far behind. While on-loan from Chelsea in the Jupiler League, the striker has been tearing it up — he even won the Golden Shoe for the 2013 season. It won’t be long until we see both brothers on the pitch for the Blues.

Mourinho plots Higuain transfer

It is clear to most people that Chelsea could do with a new striker. The current bunch could only manage a handful of goals in the calendar year and Jose Mourinho may be forced to enter the transfer market if things don’t improve.

The latest player linked with Chelsea is Napoli hitman Gonzalo Higuain, who seems to have started well at the club. The forward could cost up to £48 million.

The leaked image of Arsenal’s new away shirt

Without big breaking news, huge transfers and live games, the soccer ‘silly season’ is in full flow. As a result, one of the most anticipated news snippets in the summer is the first view of a team’s new kit. Yep. Nike’s final season with Arsenal has allowed them to pull out all the stops. It’s a pretty simple design but it certainly draws attention. We like it, even the smart addition of the buttons and collar!

The shirt will be officially unveiled on Tuesday. Who knows, we could soon see the likes of Gonzalo Higuain in it too.

Mourinho’s Eye-Gouge Reaches Spain’s Constitutional Court

No matter where he goes, Jose Mourinho just can’t seem to leave the drama behind.

According to a report from Spanish newspaper Marca, Mourinho is the subject of a legal case that has just reached Spain’s Constitutional Court. The topic? The infamous ‘eye-gouge’ incident in which Mourinho poked then-assistant coach of Barcelona, Tito Vilanova, in the eye.

A law-firm based in Barcelona took it upon themselves to file a complaint against the former Real Madrid manager, alleging that he was guilty of disrupting the public order.

Are we sure they’re referring to the eye-gouge incident, or the season Real Madrid managed to break Barcelona’s grip on La Liga?

Either way, Spain just can’t seem to get enough of Jose.

Arsenal strike out with Torres/Rooney hunt

Arsenal’s profligacy in front of goal has long been a problem point for the Gunners. The reason for such a long wait for a trophy is often pinpointed as the lack of a true goalscorer. Well, this summer they seem intent on changing that.

Not only have they bid £20m for Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney, but Arsene Wenger’s side, also courting Real Madrid goal-getter Gonzalo Higuain, are now after a striker from their bitter rivals Chelsea. Yep, you got it, Fernando Torres.

Nando’s been a little out-of-form for a while now. Since his move from Liverpool, basically. We all know that the Spaniard has goals in his locker though, as he’s proven during the Confed Cup over the last month. Is he the solution for Arsenal though.
