If you want to make it onto the Fox Soccer blog, there are pretty much only three 100% surefire ways of doing so, no questions asked (not counting, of course, anything outrageous done or said by Mario Balotelli or Sepp Blatter):

A) invading the pitch;

B) getting into a physical fight with a referee; or

C) scoring a goal on a scorpion kick.

Congratulations to France Under-21 player Alexandre Coeff, who went with option C against, sigh, the United States side at the Toulon Tournament, an international competition for under-21 sides. France won the game 4-1, and needless to say probably also recorded the goal of the tournament.

Cue to Arsene Wenger and Newcastle’s Alan Pardew frantically fighting over the young Frenchman’s signature!

David Luiz is a central defender, but at times this season he’s also been deployed as a midfielder. As many of you know, Luiz has also been taken free kicks for Chelsea this year, as opposed to, say, Frank Lampard, Oscar, or Eden Hazard. Now we know why.

Luiz hit this absolute rocket from about 30 yards to give Chelsea the lead over Fulham on Wednesday. What a beautifully struck goal by Sideshow Bob!

Definitely a goal of the month!

Relegation drama

QPR’s relegation battle against Wigan was ugly at first — including a red card for Bobby Zamora’s kick to the head of Jordi Gomez — but then it was beautiful!

Loic Remy’s superb strike in the 85th had sent QPR on its way to a priceless victory…

…but Wigan’s Shaun Maloney denied them the win with this fantastic free kick in the last minute of stoppage time! Both goals are deserved Goal of the Month nominees!!

PSG and Barcelona fought out a 2-2 draw in their first leg of the Champions League quarterfinals, with the Parisians leveling it up on the very last shot of the game — quite dramatic of them.

Earlier, however, we saw the goal of the day courtesy of Lionel Messi and an absolute beauty of a pass by Dani Alves. Check out Alves’ ridiculous outside-of-the-boot pass and Messi’s sweet strike to finish it off.

Unfortunately for Messi and Barcelona, the greatest in the world went on to miss the second half due to a hamstring injury — ouch. Read more on that right here.

From the Champions League (Lionel Messi’s wonder strike against Milan) to the CONCACAF Champions League (Djimi Traore’s rocket vs. Tigres), we saw a lot of wonderful Goal of the Month nominees this week.

Check them all out at once, and don’t forget to use the twitter hashtag #GOMonFOX whenever you see a great goal!

Messi puts on a show as Barcelona crushes Milan

Lionel Messi took matters into his own hands, er…feet, as Barcelona came back from a 0-2 deficit from the first leg to crush Milan 4-0 en route to the Champions League quarterfinals.

Messi’s opener in the 5th minute was an absolute stunner and set the tone for the rest of the match. Watch as he curls one perfectly into the top corner while surrounded by FOUR Milan defenders. It also happened to be Messi’s second-fastest goal he ever scored in the Champions League!
