Beckham offered trial to be kicker in NFL

According to a report in the Daily Mirror, while he was still with the LA Galaxy, David Beckham received a formal offer to try out as a kicker for an NFL team.

A source told the newspaper:

“A couple of scouts felt that David has the potential to become a kicker in the NFL team, and one actually put a call into him for a trial. It was obvious too that if Becks took up the offer then any NFL franchise would be interested as his international appeal would generate billions in PR and commercial opportunities.”

While a few teams inquired about his services, only one (unidentified) team sent over an official offer.

Needless to say, Beckham politely turned down the offer and decided to take his talents to France, playing the final season of his career with Paris Saint-Germain.

LeBron James meets David Beckham courtside

image

These two could be seeing a lot more of each other.

The newly retired David Beckham is in Miami and is working on a new sports venture: owning a professional soccer team.

After meeting with Miami’s mayor Carlos Gimenez on Saturday, Beckham toured both Sun Life Stadium and Florida International University’s stadium in the effort to find a home for a potential Miami MLS team.

Mayor Gimenez:

“We’re ready and we’re excited about the possibility of having top-flight professional soccer back in Miami. With people from all over the world living in our community, this is an ideal market for MLS and David Beckham is the right person to make it happen.”

After a weekend of hard work in South Florida, Becks was able to kick back and watch LeBron James and the Miami Heat dominate the Indiana Pacers for a Game 7 win and a third straight trip to the NBA Finals.

Let’s hope that Beckham does indeed secure an MLS team in Miami and decides to hang out with LeBron on the regular.

This is just too much star power to pass up.

Brooklyn Beckham trains with QPR, close to joining Academy

Beckham could be back in the Premier League before we know it, Brooklyn Beckham that is.

David Beckham’s 14-year-old son has been training with recently relegated Queens Park Rangers and while reports have said that he has signed, QPR has confirmed that those reports were a little quick on the trigger.

We may have to wait a little longer for a Beckham to be playing for England again, but at least Brooklyn is on the right track. He could probably just show this video of him putting the moves on PSG defender Thiago Silva earlier this year.

David Beckham’s emotional exit

David Beckham broke down while being substituted in PSG’s 3-1 win over Brest on Saturday.

The 38-year-old left the pitch, in tears, for likely the final time in his career, as it has been suggested that he will not play in PSG’s final match of the season, away at Lorient.

Those tears quickly turned into cheers, though, as his teammates joyously tossed Becks up into the air. It’s a good thing they didn’t drop him — they were not messing around on that last throw.

Style has never been a problem for David Beckham.

On the eve of his final home match as a professional soccer player, Beckham announced he will be lacing up these custom boots for Paris Saint-Germain’s match against Brestois. He has partnered up with adidas to create these and it’s clear that they are carrying some signature Beckham style.

Beckham announced his decision on Facebook stating:

I wanted to show the passion I had playing for my country and the pride that gave me during my career. You also see the names of Victoria and the kids which have always been there on my boots.”
