River Plate veteran’s first goal for the club is a golazo

image

It’s the final day of your club’s league and you need a win to clinch the title. There’s no better time to score your first goal, is there?

Not many players find themselves in that situation, but 35-year-old River Plate veteran Cristian Ledesma did on Sunday. Now, it wasn’t the only goal scored in the match – River beat Quilmes 5-0 to snag the title – but it was certainly the most impressive. In his third stint with the club (first signed in 1999), Ledesma finally broke through with this rocket from distance.

It may be the midfielder’s first (and possibly only) goal he scores for River, but it’s certainly one he won’t forget.

Especially since he got to cap the night off like this:

This is one of the coolest looks at championship celebrations you’ll ever see

Ajax secured their 33rd Eredivisie title on Sunday, making it four straight triumphs for the Dutch club. That’s more than any other team in the Dutch league.

But just because they’ve made a habit of winning the league over and over again, they still celebrate like it’s the first time. Thanks to defensive star Daley Blind, we got a a behind the scenes look at their most recent title celebrations.

As expected, there’s cheering, dancing and a LOT of drinking.

Drink up, fellas. You deserve it.

Manchester United face double blow

image

It never rains but it pours for David Moyes at Manchester United! Last year’s Premier League champions find themselves seventh in the table and a huge 11 points off the summit.

United’s hopes of boosting their roster during the mid-season window have been severely dented with the news Ivan Rakitic has reportedly snubbed interest from the club. If that wasn’t enough, they are facing a fresh fight to keep star forward Wayne Rooney. The England international is considering whether the Red Devils are still the right for him with 18 months remaining on his contract.
