Millwall to wear camouflage kits to honor British troops

This year marks the 100th anniversary of World War I, and Millwall F.C. have announced they’ll wear a special tribute kit in recognition of the Great War, and those that sacrificed so much during that time.

Millwall will don desert camouflage kits for their Nov. 8 home match against Brentford “in remembrance of these courageous servicemen and women and in support of Headley Court Military Rehabilitation Centre,” according to the team’s site.

The commemorative kit will be available for pre-order on Oct. 20 from the Lions Store, or online. They’ll run adults £50 ($80) and juniors can get theirs for £40 ($64).

Aside from being a great cause, we think the kits actually look pretty cool. In addition to the camo, a red poppy will bel featured prominently on the chest of the shirt.

The red poppy is globally recognized as a token of remembrance for those that have served. (The flower became such a symbol in part because of its usage in Canadian Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae’s poem “In Flanders Fields,” written during World War I.)

Millwall boss Ian Holloway reads the poem in the powerful video below:

Mario Balotelli’s new boots

Looks like Mario Balotelli’s got some new boots. These custom made kicks come courtesy of Portuguese artist Mr.Dheo. If his $240,000 camouflage-wrapped Bentley wasn’t a big enough hint that he likes the camo, these certainly get the point across.

It remains to be seen whether he’ll don them for AC Milan’s match this weekend, here’s hoping he does, but these boots will do anything but blend in.
