Fangs for that! Player bit on nose

It appears unhappy Liverpool striker Luis Suarez isn’t the only one with flesh-eating tendencies in the world of soccer judging by this clip from a match in Ecuador on Sunday.

Suarez received a ten-match ban for biting Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic last season, but it seems the trend is worryingly on the increase.

Deportivo Quevedo defender Edwin Hurtado had a True Blood moment midway through the second half when he went for SC Barcelona’s Andrés Franzoia with his teeth for which he received only a yellow card.

That attack was sparked by an incident earlier in the penalty area in which a Deportivo player seemed to be flattened by Franzoia which Hurtado clearly didn’t like. Hurt by name, hurt by nature! His fangs seem to make contact with the nose of his opponent, who goes down theatrically but probably with good reason.

1 game: 11 yellow Cards, 6 red Cards and an arm bite

This was one of those matches you had to see to believe.

Petrolul and Gaz Metan faced off in a Romanian Liga 1 battle on Wednesday night with things heating up rather quickly. While it was a chippy and scrappy game throughout, the action crescendoed right around the 63-minute mark.

After just a shred of contact, a Gaz Metan player hit the ground with an apparent injury, which did not sit well with Petrolul. One of the Petrolul players repeatedly pulled on the arm and leg of the fallen Gaz Metan player to bring him back to life, creating a ruckus that resulted in six red cards and 11 yellow cards.

The star of this fight has to be Petrolul keeper Mircea Bornescu. After charging up the field to defend his teammate and restrain the Gaz Metan player who sparked the melee, Bornescu decided to take a bite out of his opponent’s shoulder, which got him punched in the face before he was shown a straight red card.

After the dust settled, a nine-man Petrolul side scored a late equalizer (thanks to 15 minutes of injury time) to earn a 1-1 draw vs. seven-man Gaz Metan.

Seems Romania is having all the fun these days.

Patrice Evra mocks Luis Suarez, bites fake arm thrown on pitch

image
If you thought that Manchester United winning their 20th Premier League title would knock Luis Suarez out of the news, you were wrong. Once the Red Devils finished their destruction of Aston Villa to clinch the BPL title, the players broke into celebration. After a fan threw a fake arm onto the pitch, Patrice Evra played along and took a bite out of it.

Clearly, a metaphorical slap in the face to Luis Suarez, who set off the soccer world with his bite in Sunday’s game. For those that don’t recall, Luis Suarez was banned 8 matches in 2011 after he was found guilty of racially abusing Evra.

Fresh off of his fifth Premier League title with Manchester United, it would appear that Patrice Evra got the last laugh.

Having an old friend for dinner, Suarez?

image

It seems there is only one way to prevent Liverpool striker Luis Suarez from taking bite-size chunks out of opposition defenders. We at FOX Soccer are becoming increasingly worried by the Uruguayan’s flesh-eating tendencies (remember he did the same thing at Ajax) and don’t think counseling is the answer, so we have taken inspiration from Hannibal Lecter in Silence of the Lambs to prevent any further cannibal attacks. Hey Luis, try eating a hearty meal before a game!

Suarez takes a bite out of Ivanovic

Looks like someone didn’t eat their Wheaties today.

Luis Suarez is doing Luis Suarez things once again. It’s clear as day that he sunk his teeth into Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic’s arm during today’s match. Adding insult to injury, Suarez put in the late equalizer during stoppage time to seal a 2-2 draw.

This isn’t the first time Suarez has taken a bite out of another player. In 2010 with Ajax, Suarez was banned for seven games for biting PSV Eindhoven’s Otman Bokkal’s shoulder.

What’s next for Suarez - a ban for the rest of the season? Ordered to wear a muzzle?

UPDATE: Suarez’s best Mike Tyson impression did not go unnoticed. Take a look at who just followed Suarez on Twitter.
