Radamel Falcao, Steven Gerrard try out for MLB career

As has become tradition, many of the best European clubs are in the United States for a preseason tour, and once again, quite a few stars are finding time to try their hands at American sports.

Last summer, you may remember Juventus star Andrea Pirlo trying out at American Football. This year, baseball seems to be the sport of choice.

While in Miami for Monaco’s friendly vs Colombian side, Radamel Falcao went to the Marlins Stadium batting cages to take a few cuts, and he was quite impressive, too. Falcao lined a couple of frozen ropes straight back to the pitcher, almost decapitating him on one of them! WATCH:

Meanwhile, on the northern end of the Atlantic coast, in Boston, Liverpool players also took some batting practice before their friendly match against Roma at Fenway Park.

Based on his form, Steven Gerrard might need to take a few pointers from Falcao next time they see each other:

Cristiano Ronaldo and Yasiel Puig, new best friends

Soccer superstar Cristiano Ronaldo threw out the first pitch at the Dodgers game in Los Angeles on Wednesday night. More importantly, it seems he’s become instant besties with rising MLB star Yasiel Puig.

It all started when “M-V-Puig” gave Cristiano his own personalized Dodgers jersey. Every good friendship starts with a thoughtful gift, right?

Then, the pair bonded while playing a game of keepy-uppy with a baseball. Not bad Puig, not bad at all!

Next, they switched to Ronaldo’s preferred piece of sports equipment, showing off some more juggling skills.

Puig took his turn with the soccer ball, showing that he’s more than just a really, really good baseball player. Maybe he and Steve Nash will form a new summer league team together soon?

And before taking the mound to test out his arm, Ronaldo took a few swings in the batting cages. Yeah, it looks awkward, but he definitely got a piece of it.

At long last, the wait for Ronaldo’s first pitch was over, and boy did it not disappoint. Well, depending which way you look at it.

As you can see, Ronaldo completely underestimated his strength on the “first” first pitch, which sailed high and wide past Puig’s glove. However, he apparently nailed his second attempt. We’re guessing his new best friend gave him some solid instructions.

Manchester City, NY Yankees team up to own New York City FC

It was announced on Tuesday that Manchester City and the New York Yankees will be owners of the 20th team in MLS: New York City FC.

Baseball and soccer coming together? With their powers combined, NYC FC could become a wildly popular and successful club in the heart of the Big Apple.

We let our imaginations run wild at the thought of these two sports giants teaming up, and conjured up this alternate universe where Yankees captain Derek Jeter and City captain Vincent Kompany swapped lives…

No, that just looks wrong. We like the universe just the way it is.
