Rejoice, world! The Zlatan stamps are now on sale

image

As we first told you in November, Zlatan Ibrahimovic has been immortalized by the Swedish Postal Service (Posten) with his own line of stamps. And on Thursday, after an excruciating four-month wait, the stamps finally went on sale, obviously to roaring success.

Football fans all over the continent have been flocking to their local post offices for the first time in probably a decade. Posten’s Head of Stamps Britt-Inger Hahne told TT news agency that five million stamps have already been sold in advance.

“The French are particularly interested,” Hahne said. “One customer ordered 1,500 packages for his French friends.” (Okay, we’re not sure if that means 1,500 Facebook “friends” or actual friends, but regardless, that’s a lot of stamps!)

Zlatan himself has been overjoyed at the thought of seeing his big schnoz on the bills he will receive. In November, he said:

It’s a great honour to be on a postage stamp and I’m very happy and proud to have been chosen. I usually receive bills and they seldom have nice stamps. Maybe that will change now.”

As you can see, the Zlatan stamps all feature images of him in action with the Swedish national team, and two of them capture the iconic bicycle kick he scored against England, which won the FIFA Puskas Award in January for Goal of the Year.

Fan #DaresToZlatan, gets rewarded

LE BEAU GESTE DE ZLATAN by footeo-clubeo Game recognize game!

A young fan stormed the field following PSG’s 1-0 win at FC Lorient on Friday with only one goal in mind: get Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s shirt. Remembering what he learned from the Great Zlatan’s recent Twitter lecture, the fan daringly sprinted over and slid in front of Ibrahimovic, before asking for — and receiving — his hero’s jersey. He even got a hug out of it!

See? That’s what happens when you #DareToZlatan.

This week in ‘Amazing Zlatan Moments’

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has been wow-ing us all season long, that’s nothing new. Seemingly every weekend he provides us with a goal worthy of the yearly highlight reel.

But did you know Ligue 1’s top scorer — 23 goals and counting — also leads the league in assists this season with 12? Yeah, he can do it all.

Proving that his brilliance knows no bounds, Zlatan showed off his other skill set with a lovely back-heel pass to Ezequiel Lavezzi during PSG’s 3-0 win over Bastia on Saturday.

Zlatan praises Matuidi wonder goal

Blaise Matuidi scored a ridiculous goal for France in their friendly against the Netherlands yesterday. The entire soccer world took notice, and for good reason.

The best way to describe it is a no-look spinning scissor kick, but it’s better if you just watch it:

The stunning strike even caught the attention of PSG teammate and soccer god Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Only Zlatan can get away with talking in third person while complimenting another player. Because Zlatan does what Zlatan wants.

Bored Zlatan practices scoring with his knee

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has scored more golazos in the past 12 months than most players — mortals — achieve in their lifetime. Or in their dreams. So when it comes to practice, you can understand if Zlatan gets bored pretty easily during shooting drills. Like, what’s the challenge? There isn’t one. Unless you dare to Zlatan, and try to score with different body parts.

Still, not even that seems to be a problem for Zlatan. Ibra is clearly just as lethal with his kneecaps as with his feet.

Man, we’re sure going to miss him in Brazil.
