Wesley Sneijder scores pair of golazos in Galatasaray win

imageBitter rivals Galatasaray and Fenerbahce were deadlocked at 0-0 in the final minutes of Saturday’s Super Lig bout when Wesley Sneijder decided to TURN UP.

In the 88th minute, the Dutch international decided to let it fly from a good 25 yards and buried his screamer into the top corner for the Galatasaray lead:

And because it worked out so well the first time, Sneijder unleashed another worldie just two minutes later to make it 2-0:

Hey defense, how about someone steps up on that guy?

Fenerbahce pegged one back in injury time, but it was too little too late (and too much Sneijder) to prevent Galatasaray’s win.

Wesley Sneijder pantsed Sulley Muntari after Netherlands-Ghana friendly

Wesley Sneijder and Sulley Muntari were teammates for four years at Inter Milan, even winning a Champions League title together in 2010. So after their two national teams faced off in a World cup warm-up match on Saturday, Sneijder sought Muntari out and played a little trick on his old friend - sneaking up behind him and yanking his shorts down.

Boogeyman Drogba denies Arsenal chance at silverware

Old habits are hard to break for Didier Drogba.

The Galatasaray striker just couldn’t stay away from a chance to haunt his old nemesis Arsenal once again, even if it was just the meaningless Emirates Cup. Drogba, who likes scoring goals against Arsenal as much as a normal 6-year-old might enjoy ice cream, scored two goals in the last 12 minutes to seal Galatasaray’s comeback win. The first came from the spot after drawing a rather soft penalty, the game-winner a classy finish off a brilliant Wesley Sneijder pass.

Fans at the Emirates Stadium must have been appalled at the team’s decision to invite Drogba’s team to the preseason dance. Arsene Wenger probably broke several jacket zippers in anger when he heard, because the Drog has been a boogeyman of sorts for the Gunners. While with Chelsea, he scored 13 goals in 14 matches against Arsenal, the most goals he’s tallied against a single opponent in his career.
