Thiago Alcantara boosts Bayern with amazing goal

If you’re a team in the midst of an unprecedented 43-game unbeaten run in the Bundesliga, you’re going to need a little magic.

Bayern Munich got more than a little in Wednesday’s thriller against Stuttgart, specifically from one Thiago Alcantara.

Already a goal down in the 76th minute, Bayern sub Claudio Pizarro headed in a Thiago free kick to help keep the unbeaten streak alive.

But it was Thiago’s amazing solo effort that lifted Bayern to full points. With time dwindling down, the Spanish midfielder set his sights on a Rafinha cross and blasted home a jaw-dropping scissor-kick.

Words cannot do the acrobatic finish justice, especially considering it came with mere seconds remaining. Just watch the video and enjoy.

Josep Guardiola slaps Thiago Alcantara during German Super Cup

Dortmund’s victory over Bayern Munich in the German Super Cup was undoubtedly a great game which will set the tone for the coming season. However, it looks like Pep Guardiola may have taken the game a little too seriously.

In a quick team talk, Guardiola appears to slap his newly-signed Barcelona recruit Thiago Alcantara across the face in front of the entire team.

The bitter loss ended Guardiola’s perfect run at Bayern after taking over from Jupp Heynckes, who led the Bavarian side to an unprecedented treble last season. The former Barca manager didn’t look happy with his team’s performance one bit and expressed displeasure after the match:

”I don’t have the feeling that they played much better than us. We played well, we did things right. We played against a strong team, who played the Champions League final. But I’m honored for my players. It’s a good lesson for us. After one month, I am very happy with our performance.”

Chelsea set sights on Bayern Munich’s Luiz Gustavo

Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea are preparing well for the new season with three wins out of three so far. As they build up for the International Champions Cup the speculation continues as to where they will strengthen their squad. In today’s newspapers, the Blues are linked with highly-rated Bayern Munich midfielder Luiz Gustavo. Gustavo is out of favor after the addition of Thiago Alcantara to the Bayern roster and may be open to the move.

Thiago scores first Bayern goal…with his chest!

For having been with the team for less than a week, Thiago Alcantara sure is fitting in nicely at Bayern already.

In the pre-season Telekom Cup, Thiago played a key role in Bayern’s decisive wins over Hamburg and Borussia Moenchengladbach to clinch the first “title” of the season. In the latter match, Thiago also scored his first goal, albeit in unorthodox fashion: meeting a cross from Jerome Boateng, Thiago chested the ball past the keeper with aplomb.

We’re not sure why Thiago didn’t just use his head here, but the very fact that he can seemingly choose to score with any part of his body must be a good way to stand out from a ridiculously stacked Bayern roster!

Thiago Alcantara leaves Barcelona for Bayern Munich

Bayern Munich have signed Thiago Alcantara from Barcelona for a reported sum of 25m, the club announced via Twitter Sunday afternoon. The deal doesn’t come as much of a shock; Bayern had been considered front-runners for Thiago’s signature after Pep Guardiola publicly asked the Bayern brass to make the deal happen. Manchester United were also tabbed as hot suitors this summer.

David de Gea signs Thiago’s game ball: “See you in Manchester”

image

Thiago Alcantara was the hero of yesterday’s Under-21 European Championship final, netting a hat-trick in Spain’s 4-2 win over Italy. Afterwards, the Barcelona talent received a game ball that was littered with messages from his teammates, one of which is veeeeery interesting.

David de Gea supposedly wrote this sly little note on Thiago’s ball:

"Nos vemos en Manchester." Or, in English: "See you in Manchester"

Hmmmmmmmmmm….

With recent reports suggesting that the current Premier League champions are interested in triggering Thiago’s £18m release clause, this unmistakeably suggestive message from the current United goalkeeper could indicate that a move is now only a matter of time. Barcelona, though, are being advised by Pique not to give up their young jewel. We’ll see I guess!

Here’s the closeup of the ball:

Barcelona plots move for Mata

Barcelona seems to be taking a big interest in Chelsea players at the moment - especially the club’s Spanish contingent - as Juan Mata appears to have joined Fernando Torres on Tito Vilanova’s transfer wishlist.

The rumors making the rounds are suggesting that this speculation flying around is due to a dispute with Jose Mourinho. Either way the Chelsea manager will be desperate to get the midfielder back from the Confederations Cup to try and tie down his main man at Stamford Bridge.

Barca is also making other transfer news as interest from Manchester United grows for Thiago Alcantara and Cesc Fabregas talks about Gareth Bale’s potential move to Real Madrid. For all today’s transfer gossip visit Paper Chase.
