Fight breaks out in Europa League match

Anyone who said the Europa League is a meaningless competition clearly forgot to tell Dutch side PSV Eindhoven and Ukrainian squad FC Chornomorets Odesa.

With a shot at the round of 32 on the line, things became awful chippy between PSV’s Santiago Arias and Chornomorets’ Sito Riera late in the game.

As seen in the video, Arias gives Riera a less-than-friendly shove out of bounds. This sends Riera over the edge, in more ways than one. The winger charges Arias, shoving him and then popping him with a kick for good measure.

This overreaction starts a minor brouhaha, resulting in a yellow card for PSV’s Adam Maher to go on top of Riera’s red.

That wasn’t the only assault that took place in Thursday’s Europa League action. During an earlier match between St. Gallen and Swansea City. Look at that adorable girl just viciously attack that pretzel. It never stood a chance:

The scene calls up shades of one George Costanza:

Unabashed eating. Gotta love it.

Champions League + Europa League spots sealed

The Barclays Premier League has come to an end and the Champions League positions are set. The Premier League will be sending the same representatives as last year but will be hoping for a much better result as none of them made it through to the Quarterfinals in this year’s competition.

There will be a different look for the Europa League representatives this season.

Tottenham will be returning to the Europa League for the second consecutive season and will be joined by Swansea and a relegated Wigan club.

Swansea has secured their birth thanks to a 5-0 victory over Bradford in the League Cup final. Despite the impending relegation, Wigan will be heading to the Europa League group stage courtesy of a 1-0 defeat of Manchester City in the FA Cup Final.

Premier League relegation battle

With 2 weeks remaining, there are still 10 Premier League teams that can be mathematically relegated to the npower Championship. To say that every game left on the team’s schedule is a must-win would be a drastic understatement.

Here are just a few of the matches that could be the difference between survival and relegation:

  • 5/7: Wigan vs Swansea City
  • 5/12: QPR vs Newcastle
  • 5/12: Southampton vs Sunderland
  • 5/19: Wigan vs Aston Villa

Swansea have had another great season, winning the League Cup and qualifying for Europe next season. It looks like the squad has been taking HUGE tips from their manager Michael Laudrup, who includes Barcelona, Real Madrid and Juventus on his impressive playing CV. Laudrup played with the rest of his staff in an end of season kick about, showing his skills and dancing past oncoming defenders. Check it out…

Michu reached to his old bag of tricks to help Swansea salvage a draw against Premier League giants Manchester United.

Michu came out on top in the battle of the Barclays Premier League's top scorers at the Liberty Stadium. Patrice Evra had given United the lead in the 16th minute as he headed home from a Robin van Persie corner.
