Brazilian Chelsea fan names son “Leandro Lampard”

FA TV may have found the biggest Chelsea fan in South America.

With England in Rio for a friendly match with Brazil, fans are getting very excited, none more than this diehard Chelsea supporter. He has gone as far to say he supports no teams in Brazil, only his beloved Chelsea. He named his backyard Stamford Bridge and even named his son after a team legend.

The day Chelsea knocked Barcelona out of the 2012 Champions League his son was born, and to honor the club he named his baby son after all-time leading scorer Frank Lampard.

Lampard was not part of the visit so he did not have a chance to meet young Leandro Lampard, but he was humbled to hear the story.

“I wasn’t there unfortunately, but I did hear about it,” Lampard said. “I would like to meet the father and the kid because it’s an honor. It would be an honour if someone from London did that, but for someone from Brazil to do it… what can you say to that?”

We’ll keep our eye on little “Lampardinho” as he rises the Brazilian youth soccer ranks.

Newly elected Pope Francis shows San Lorenzo colors

By now, the entire world is reading up on newly elected Pope, Jorge Bergogolio, and what his appointment will mean to the Catholic Church.

Though that question remains to be answered, it really doesn’t concern us soccer junkies. Photos surfaced on the Pope’s true colors on Wednesday, that of Argentine club San Lorenzo.

Still an active member, San Lorenzo released images highlighting Bergogolio’s love for the club. Is worth noting that San Lorenzo were named after local priest Father Lorenzo Mass, the same priest who allowed children to play in his church’s yard to discourage them from playing near the dangerous trams around the city.

Barcelona midfielder Javier Mascherano and Argentina’s basketball international Lucas Victoriano congratulated Bergoglio’s appointment on Twitter:

Manchester United’s 4-3 win over Newcastle during Boxing Day dominated headlines around the world and rightfully so. You’d figure that fans would be on full alert during United’s epic victory, right?

Guess again.

Check out the supporter in the red hat and jacket, center on the picture at 0:10. There must be a reasonable reason why the fan was dead asleep during the high end drama at Old Trafford. So we think.
