Cesc Fabregas does the Macarena for Chelsea initiation, scores lovely goal

A longtime Chelsea tradition requires all new signings to perform a song in front of the entire team as part of their initiation.

This year, all eyes were on former Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas. How would he try to win over his new teammates? With the Macarena, of course!

Too easy.

Following his little song and dance, Cesc then opened his goal-scoring account for the Stamford Bridge club, with quite an impressive strike to boot. Check out the Spaniard’s beautiful free kick vs. Dutch side Vitesse Arnhem:

We’re thinking that Cesc’s goals might help his status at Chelsea a bit more than his singing.

Jose Mourinho writes moving open letter to his son

Jose Mourinho might be one of the most polarizing figures in soccer, but one side we don’t see enough of is Jose, the father.

His 14-year-old son, Jose Mario Jr., has been sitting a few rows behind the Chelsea manager for every game this season, and has even been called “a little assistant” by Mourinho. On several occasions, you could see them celebrate a big goal together in the stands. Obviously, that wasn’t the case on Sunday, but for the Blues’ final home game Mourinho still found a way to connect with his son. In the final matchday program of the season, Mourinho included a heartfelt open letter to Jose Jr.:

I know this space is to communicate with you fans, but one of you is my son. I want to tell him thanks for being with me every second of every match, a few metres behind me, jumping for every goal; hurt by every difficult moment. Thank you, kid, for being my kid. Every time I look at you, I see you, but I also see your sister and your mum, both at home but also playing with us, both waiting for us to go home and to be what we are - an amazing family… like the blue family, supporting each other.

D’aww.

Chelsea consider Alonso raid

image

Jose Mourinho has confirmed over the last week that the door is open if Juan Mata and Michael Essien want to leave the club. The pair seem discontent at a bit-part this season and may leave in the next six months.

In Wednesday’s newspapers a possible replacement has been mentioned. Real Madrid midfielder Xabi Alonso - who has already played in the Premier League with Liverpool - is interesting the Blues. The Spaniard is a free transfer in the summer and may be available on the cheap in the current transfer window.

Liverpool, Tottenham after Lille forward

image

Lille forward Solomon Kalou is reportedly growing tired of life in France and is eyeing up a move to a Premier League giant. Lille currently sit third in Ligue 1, only four points off top side Paris Saint-Germain. Lille have a real chance of winning the title, but Kalou may decide he wants to have another crack at the Premier League.

In Monday’s newspapers, Liverpool and Tottenham are eyeing up the Ivorian who left Stamford Bridge in July 2012.

We may never be able to prove the existence of Big Foot, unicorns or the Loch Ness Monster, but one of our planet’s greatest mysteries has finally been solved — John Obi Mikel can, in fact, score a goal in the Premier League.

It “only” took him eight years:

We strongly advise you to watch this now before all videos and images get confiscated by the government for evidence, because there’s a 99.9% chance none of us will ever see this happen again:

Mikel, Branislav Ivanovic and John Terry are visibly stunned.

Mikel’s teammates make sure he’s not actually a figment of their imagination.

HEIR TO THE STAMFORD BRIDGE THRONE

image

Things are already starting to get smug at Stamford Bridge following the announcement that Jose Mourinho is returning to coach the side he led to two Premier League titles and the FA Cup. Blues fan wore what we can only assume is a rude T-shirt about the ‘Special One’ outside the club’s stadium on Monday. Nice!

imageThe marketing department are also getting pretty inventive too judging by this poster outside Stamford Bridge. It must have taken Fernando Torres and Eden Hazard a few hours to get rid of that blue paint.

Mourinho swarmed with photogs, ref pauses match

Leave it to Jose Mourinho to go out in one final blaze of glory.

Rather than join his team on the pitch for warmups and pregame ceremonies, he decided to wait in the tunnel to make sure that he could make a grand entrance for his final appearance at the Bernabeu with the club.

After the match began and the manager finally appeared, he was swarmed with photographers. It got so hectic that the referee had to pause the game to clear the cameramen from the sidelines. Once the photo opp was finished, Mourinho quietly took a seat on the team’s bench.

Mourinho wishes the team happiness and will exit La Liga on a high note after defeating Osasuna 4-2. Before the match, the former Chelsea manager provided a goodbye statement on Real Madrid’s website after his three-year stint with the club:

”I wish all of Real Madrid’s supporters much happiness in the future,” Mourinho said. ”I want to thank many fans for their support, and I respect the criticism of others. I repeat, happiness to all, and above all, good health. Hala (Forward) Madrid!”

Madrid players Sami Khedira and Alvaro Arbeloa wished Mourinho well on their Facebook and Twitter accounts respectively:
