Sergio Ramos punches Mario Mandzukic in the face, only sees yellow

image

Three months after last season’s Champions League final, Atletico and Real Madrid faced off again on Tuesday night in the first leg of the Spanish Supercopa.

In the second half, new Atletico striker and former Bayern Munich man Mario Mandzukic reintroduced himself to Sergio Ramos, charging at and landing on top of the defender after a duel in the air.

None too pleased, Ramos retaliated whilst on the ground with a clean punch to Mandzukic’s jaw, a perfectly reasonable response in MMA fighting, not so much in a football match.

We’ll see if there will be any repercussions for Ramos in the next few days. We reckon that’s worthy of just a bit more than a yellow card.

Another line of work: Real Madrid players try to play American football

Things that Xabi Alonso, Sergio Ramos, Gareth Bale, Luka Modric and the rest of Real Madrid are good at:

  • Shooting soccer balls
  • Passing soccer balls
  • Heading soccer balls
  • Running a lot

Unfortunately for the team, only one of those skills translates to American football, and it showed when they took the field in Michigan:

Not only did the boys toss the pigskin around a bit, they tried their hands at a few plays as well. It certainly wasn’t the prettiest athletic endeavor we’ve ever seen, but they look like they’re having a blast.

It’s the effort that counts, fellas.

Spanish national team goes lingerie shopping in Washington D.C.

image

Thank goodness for TMZ.

If it wasn’t for the gossip site’s omnipresent video cameras, we would never know how Spain’s national team players shop for their wives and girlfriends.

As it turns out, they do it the same way us regular folk do - by awkwardly browsing through Victoria’s Secret:

Ahead of their last World Cup tune-up match against El Salvador in Washington DC, Sergio Ramos, Pepe Reina, Andres Iniesta and Pedro used some of their free time to go panty shopping at the mall together.

Let’s just hope they don’t use the purchases to hold more secret strip poker tournaments in their hotel rooms.

Sergio Ramos gets tattoo of Champions League trophy

image

After winning the 2010 World Cup with Spain, Sergio Ramos got a tattoo of the famous trophy on his right calf. The tat’s location was a peculiar choice, as his left calf looked rather bare in comparison.

Alas, now we know what Ramos had in mind all along. He was simply saving room for the other big prize in soccer, one he hadn’t yet earned - the Champions League trophy.

After Real Madrid’s win last weekend, one he helped engineer with his last-gasp equalizer in regulation time, Ramos got the ink done to complete his on-the-body “trophy case.”

Fan at Bernabeu viewing party captures reaction to Sergio Ramos’ goal

image

Thank you, Internet!

Sergio Ramos’ dramatic late equalizer in the Champions League final has been replayed countless of times by now, but you haven’t seen it like this. Footage of that moment has emerged from Real Madrid’s official viewing party at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium, and it is truly EPIC.

Watch 85,000+ explode all at once:

Strangely, we haven’t been able to locate any footage of the same moment from the Vicente Calderon viewing party, but we imagine it would look something like this:

Sergio Ramos behind-the-goal strike inspires brace against Bayern

image

Sergio Ramos is a defender by trade, but that doesn’t mean he can’t create the occasional stroke of magic on offense. So, to warm up for Real Madrid’s clash against Bayern Munich, Ramos dug deep into his bag of tricks for a crazy goal scored from behind the goal line.

 This is pretty, pretty good:

And it seems as though this trickery inspired Ramos in Tuesday’s match. He scored not once…

…but twice to lead Real to their first final since 2002.

This dog does NOT approve of Lionel Messi, Barcelona

Real Madrid versus Barcelona is always a must-see affair. All you need to boil Spanish football’s most intense rivalry down to is this: Cristiano Ronaldo against Lionel Messi.

If you want proof, look no further than the pooch in the video above.

Mention Cristiano Ronaldo and the pup is as calm as can be. But Lionel Messi? That gets the dog quite agitated. Clearly this canine is a huge Barca hater. It even growls at Sergio Busquets’ name!

Wow. We knew the bad blood between Barca and Real ran deep. But who knew the blood was rabid?
