Crazy Dutch fan gets Louis van Gaal, RvP tattooed on his back

It has been a terrific start to the 2014 World Cup by the Netherlands. So much so, that one super fan decided to take his love to the next level.

Dutch-based singer Andre Pronk took the brave decision to get Robin van Persie and Louis van Gaal tattooed on his back — perhaps prematurely. Just watch:

Mr. Pronk dropped into a Rotterdam tattoo shop to request the ink of the Oranje boss’ face — above the iconic image of RvP’s looping header against Spain:

Netherlands have made a great start to the tournament in Brazil, but you can’t help think that these body stamps may come back to haunt him!

Trendsetter? ‘Persieing’ is actually a thing now

After Robin van Persie’s flying golazo against Spain last Friday, the Dutch striker belly-flopped on the pitch.

Now everyone is doing it.

Well at least van Persie’s 93-year-old grandfather.

Okay, the Dutch Embassy staff too.

Actually, there are dozens of pictures of people doing it. There’s even hashtag for it, #persieing. Explore it at your own risk.

Netherlands airport gives national team sweet Brazil send-off

The World Cup makes people do crazy, awesome, weird and downright special things. The game on the pitch may be the center of attention during the month-long tournament, but there’s a lot of cool action taking place off of it.

When the Netherlands national team made their way to Brazil for this summer’s World Cup, their main international airport, Schipol, sent them off with a sweet message from Dutch fans.

They even rolled out the Oranje carpet.

The players don’t seem to know what’s going on at first, but the looks on their faces when they realize what’s happening is priceless.

Van Persie agent meets with Arsenal manager

RVP’s defection to a title rival caused a lot of bitterness with Gunners fans but would they be able to forgive and forget if he returned to north London? Of course they would!

Is David Moyes really the problem? Stats say otherwise

Image courtesty of Action Images

Two respected soccer number-crunchers are making a surprising claim that Manchester United’s seemingly miserable season really isn’t that miserable at all.

Simon Kuper and Stefan Szymanski, both AskMen contributors and co-authers of Soccernomics, claim that it’s the absence of Robin van Persie that has been the main source of United’s woes.

The Red Devils sit in 7th place, and are a whopping 18 points behind their points total at this time last year. New boss David Moyes is taking the brunt of the blame, but statistics suggest that that’s probably not fair.

At this time last season, star striker Van Persie had played in all 22 EPL matches and scored an impressive 16 goals. This season, he has played in just 11 matches and scored only seven goals.

When you crunch the numbers, if RvP had been healthy and in form for this entire season, United could have gained an additional 11 points and would sit in second in the EPL table, and would be just three points behind the first-place Gunners. Not so bad, huh?

Maybe fans should re-think where their blame lies for this season’s struggles, and hope that Van Persie comes back in time to make a late run at a Champions League spot. Oh, and the addition of Juan Mata won’t hurt, either.

Soccer stars get into the Halloween mood

Halloween is just a couple days away, and if you haven’t figured out a costume yet, well, you’re in luck.

Several soccer stars have already revealed what they’re being for the spookiest day of the year, and perhaps they can serve as inspiration for you.

Want to scare your friends silly? Just take a look at New England Revolution striker Juan Agudelo’s creepy outfit. As you can see by Charlie Davies’ reaction, this will do the trick (no pun intended):

Looking for something more pop culture related? Leave it to USA stars Alex Morgan and Sydney Leroux — who else? — to show you what’s hot in the streets right now:

Hilarious choice, but that twerk still looks like it could use some work, Alex. I mean Miley.

Of course, you can always go the vintage Halloween route. Check out Robin van Persie as Count Dracula! Too bad RVP didn’t strip on a Luis Suarez jersey along with it, that would have been truly epic.
