Marcelo Bielsa sits down on cup of hot coffee, hilarity ensues

A classic moment straight out of “The Three Stooges” went down on Sunday during Marseille’s 2-0 victory over Toulouse at Stade Vélodrome on Sunday.

Marseille coach Marcelo Bielsa — who opts to sit on coolers instead of those big comfy dugout chairs for some reason — accidentally took a load off right onto a cup of hot coffee:

Ouch! The good news is that Marseille padded its Ligue 1 lead over Paris Saint-German to seven points.

Most obvious foul in history does not get called a foul

No blood, no foul?

Bradford City’s Rory McArdle literally picked up and tossed Sheffield United's Stefan Scougall to the ground on Saturday and the referee just stood there and waved 'play on.'

Have you ever seen anything like this?

All that was missing was an RKO

Bench collapse provides funniest team picture of all time

imageImage via Twitter/@teamthirtythree

Derry City were posing for their official team picture this past week when suddenly the bench in the first row collapsed. We all owe whoever was able to take a snapshot of the carnage a huge “Thank You.”

The second attempt went much more smoothly:

Liverpool and Birmingham Ladies trade long-range goals in ridiculous finish

imageUh oh. We’ve got two goals from 40+ yards out in the same crazy Women’s Super League match for you, but be warned: there is some seriously awful goalkeeping involved here.

In a game with huge WSL title implications, the Liverpool Ladies were up 1-0 on hosts Birmingham City Ladies when the fun began in the 87th minute.

That’s when Birmingham’s Hannah Keryakoplis took advantage of a colossal giveaway from Reds keeper Libby Stout to score a dramatic, late equalizer with a pinpoint shot from 40 yards out. Overjoyed, the entire team ran out to celebrate at the midfield line, including City goalkeeper Rebecca Spencer. The goal had, for the moment, put the hosts back in second place, two points ahead of Liverpool and just one back of leaders Chelsea with two games to play.

Alas, the Birmingham players - including Spencer, of all people -  were still running back to their positions when Liverpool skipper Fara Williams took the quick kick-off and scored from midfield to retake the lead. 2-1. Game over. Liverpool re-take second place. Ouch!

Watch the disaster unfold starting at the 1:18 mark:

Asamoah Gyan to hold press conference denying he sacrificed rapper

image

A truly bizarre story has gotten even weirder in Ghana, where national team star Asamoah Gyan will hold a press conference on Wednesday to quell rumors that he and his family killed a rap artist — as part of a ritual human sacrifice.

Yes, you read that right.

Ghanaian rapper Castro and Janet Bandu went missing on a trip they took together with Gyan’s family following the World Cup in July. Over two months later, no body has turned up, which has led to some suspecting (extremely) foul play on behalf of the striker - enough people to prompt a press conference, apparently.

Here is the official statement on Gyan’s website:

"The Gyan Family will hold a press conference on Wednesday address recent issues of public interest including the disappearance of musical icon Theophilus Tagoe (aka Castro).

The press conference which will take place at the Alisa Hotel will be addressed by counsel for the family Kissi Agyabeng.

It will be recalled that Theophilus Tagoe (aka Castro) and Janet Bandu went missing while on a holiday hangout with Family and Friends of the Gyan’s at a resort in Ada back in July.

Relentless efforts are still being made to find the missing duo.

The press conference will therefore seek to update the public through the media on the status of investigations so far.

The opportunity will also be used to officially respond to some allegations and untruths bundled about in the media over the role of Asamoah Gyan in the duo’s disappearance.

The press meeting will also touch on the recent court case instigated by the Ashanti Regional editor of Graphic Communications Group Daniel Kenu against Baffour Gyan and Samuel Anim Addo.

There will also be an opportunity for the press to ask related questions in a Q&A session during the press meeting.

All media houses are therefore invited to attend this press conference which will begin at 1pm (local time) at the Alisa Hotel in Accra on Wednesday, September 24, 2014.”

Let’s hope this ugly rumor gets put to rest soon.

Chicharito and James both score wonder goals in Real Madrid rout

Real Madrid completely annihilated Deportivo today, winning 8-2 in a total blowout. And a couple of those goals were absolute stunners.

First, James Rodriguez smashed home this bullet in the 36th minute. It was only 2-0 then.

Later in the match, after Real had piled on a few more goals, Chicharito scored his first for the club (and Real’s 7th of the game).

It just may be the best goal he’s scored in his career.

Not a bad debut goal, Chicharito. Not bad at all.

Ronaldinho chose Queretaro to “continue winning titles… and girls”

image

Oh, Ronnie…

Brazil legend Ronaldinho Gaucho raised plenty of eyebrows by choosing to play for Liga MX club Queretaro, but he may have shed some light on his surprising decision at his official unveiling on Friday.

Per Mundo Deportivo), Ronaldinho told reporters:

"I’ve always lived in the same way and with every team I’ve been a champion. I hope to keep doing the same and continue winning titles and girls."

It’s no secret Ronaldinho loves the female attention that’s accompanied him his entire career (remember this NSFW pic?), and after playing in France, Spain, Italy and Brazil, the two-time FIFA World Player of the Year is now looking to dip into a whole new pool of chicas. And keep winning titles. In some order.

Croatian defender submits new frontrunner for ‘Worst Miss Ever’

image

Wolfsburg midfielder Junior Malanda can rest a little bit easier tonight. The title for “worst miss ever” has a new owner, and his name is Ilija Sivonjić.

The Croatian defender for second-division side Hrvatski Dragovoljac somehow managed to keep the ball out of his opponent’s net from literally an inch out. Not a foot. An inch. Like, the ball was already on the line. All Sivonjić needed to do was blow it across…

Welp!

Perhaps Sivonjić was confused and thought he was in his own penalty area? It’s the only possible explanation for doing such a fine job of keeping the ball from crossing the line.

Not even Malanda could dream up a worse goal-line miss!

This is a spectacular own-goal from the German fifth tier

There are own-goals, and then there is this fantastic screw up by Zamir Daudi of TGM SV Jügesheim.

It takes a certain amount of skill to put the ball into your own net while you are facing away from it, but that’s just what Daudi did:

There’s a certain twisted beauty in scoring an own goal that bad.

Epic fail! Danish forward pulls own version of ‘Junior Malanda’ miss

We’re not sure anything will ever “top” Junior Malanda’s miss of the century in Friday’s Bundesliga opener, but AB Copenhagen’s Nichlas Rohde will come as close as you can possibly get.

The Danish forward managed to hit the simplest of rebounds off the post from just a yard out. Unlike in Malanda’s epic miss, the ball was flat on the ground after the opposing goalkeeper made the initial save - but to give Rohde the teeniest bit of credit, the goalkeeper was still somewhat in the picture, and he did hit the post…

No, you’re right. Still no excuse.
