Sir Alex Ferguson’s last chewed gum sold for $640,000

image

Well come on, who didn’t see this coming?

Someone at The Hawthorns on Sunday supposedly recovered Sir Alex Ferguson’s last ever piece of gum chewed as Manchester United manager. Of course, it quickly found its way onto ebay, where the gum sold overnight for nearly $640,000

We’re a little disturbed by how many people fought over this piece of dry, yet saliva-infused, memorabilia, nor can we even be sure of its authenticity. But apparently all proceeds go to charity, so that’s nice.

The listing read as follows:

Used chewing gum: RARE. Recovered from The Hawthorns. Clear perspex/wooden case.

Unofficial merchandise, rumoured to belong to Sir Alex.

After 1,500 games of intense chewing as manager of Man Utd, here lies Fegie’s last piece of chewing gum.

All proceeds go to the MU Foundation charity.

Champions League + Europa League spots sealed

The Barclays Premier League has come to an end and the Champions League positions are set. The Premier League will be sending the same representatives as last year but will be hoping for a much better result as none of them made it through to the Quarterfinals in this year’s competition.

There will be a different look for the Europa League representatives this season.

Tottenham will be returning to the Europa League for the second consecutive season and will be joined by Swansea and a relegated Wigan club.

Swansea has secured their birth thanks to a 5-0 victory over Bradford in the League Cup final. Despite the impending relegation, Wigan will be heading to the Europa League group stage courtesy of a 1-0 defeat of Manchester City in the FA Cup Final.

David Beckham’s emotional exit

David Beckham broke down while being substituted in PSG’s 3-1 win over Brest on Saturday.

The 38-year-old left the pitch, in tears, for likely the final time in his career, as it has been suggested that he will not play in PSG’s final match of the season, away at Lorient.

Those tears quickly turned into cheers, though, as his teammates joyously tossed Becks up into the air. It’s a good thing they didn’t drop him — they were not messing around on that last throw.

Chelsea, United in CR7 bidding war

It wasn’t too long ago that Cristiano Ronaldo left Manchester United for a mind-blowing £80 million. If the rumors are true, he could be on the move again. It will take similar money for Real Madrid to part with their main man, who has bagged an incredible 55 goals already this season!

Today’s rumor is that Ronaldo is set to leave La Liga and travel back to the Premier League. Chelsea and Manchester United are ready to start a bidding war for the Portuguese international.

On the eve of his final home match as a professional soccer player, Beckham announced he will be lacing up these custom boots for Paris Saint-Germain’s match against Brestois. He has partnered up with adidas to create these and it’s clear that they are carrying some signature Beckham style.

Beckham announced his decision on Facebook stating:

I wanted to show the passion I had playing for my country and the pride that gave me during my career. You also see the names of Victoria and the kids which have always been there on my boots.”
