Jack Wilshere trolls birthday boy Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to perfection

Arsenal youngster Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain celebrated his birthday on Friday, blowing out 21 candles (we assume) on his birthday cake.

Oxlade-Chamberlain’s teammate, Jack Wilshere, however, took the cake when it came to saying, “Happy birthday.”

Wilshere posted a photo on Instagram with the caption, “Happy birthday to my boy @alexoxchamberlain.” The only hook? Wilshere used a photo of fellow Gunner Kieran Gibbs.

This all goes back to a game last season in March, when Oxlade-Chamberlain handled a ball inside the area against Chelsea. The referee, Andre Marriner, rightly showed a red for the infringement, but accidentally sent off Gibbs instead of Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Kudos to Wilshere for pulling this little gem.

Curious, though, that he’d want to dig up a game where Arsenal were blown out to the tune of 6-0.

Oh, well. Happy birthday, Ox!

Arsenal step up chase for Draxler

Arsenal added quality to their midfield in the summer with Mesut Ozil moving to London from Real Madrid. Along with Ozil, the reemergence of talent such as Aaron Ramsey and Jack Wilshere, means Arsene Wenger doesn’t have to pay over the odds for midfield talent.

According to one newspaper today Wenger is looking to bring in Schalke star midfielder Julian Draxler. The Gunners have reportedly discovered a £40 million buy-out clause in his contract at the Bundesliga club, and are set to swoop in January or the summer.

Wilshere lined up as replacement for Xavi, Iniesta

Jack Wilshere scored what will surely be regarded as the best team goal of the season at the season with the opening goal in Arsenal’s 4-1 win against Norwich. The England midfielder is starting to fire on all cylinders again after a difficult spell with injury and his form has apparently not gone unnoticed by Barcelona, who are looking for a long-term replacement for Xavi and Andres Iniesta. The leaked image of Arsenal’s new away shirt

Without big breaking news, huge transfers and live games, the soccer ‘silly season’ is in full flow. As a result, one of the most anticipated news snippets in the summer is the first view of a team’s new kit. Quite often they provide the ‘water cooler talk’, whether it’s a stylish strip or a garish attempt, such as Liverpool’s this season.

Next up in the kit unveiling stakes is Arsenal. While their new away kit hasn’t actually yet been revealed, we’ve caught a glimpse of what is reported to be the new shirt. Just click below to see the eye-catching attempt.

Yep. Nike’s final season with Arsenal has allowed them to pull out all the stops. It’s a pretty simple design but it certainly draws attention. We like it, even the smart addition of the buttons and collar!

The shirt will be officially unveiled on Tuesday. Who knows, we could soon see the likes of Gonzalo Higuain in it too.

Hi Jack! Guardiola keeps tabs on WIlshere

There’s plenty going on in the transfer world at the moment, especially at the Manchester clubs, but one interesting line has surfaced from the Emirates. Pep Guardiola will take charge of Bayern Munich in the summer and has made Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere a long-term target. Does he have a chance? Click here for more on this and the latest gossip from the UK media.

Arsenal and Everton’s goalless draw yesterday was as fiery tempered as they come. Even Arsene Wenger and David Moyes were in bullish moods after the brusing game. Tensions nearly boiled over at half-time though.

Just as the players were entering the tunnel for the break, Everton’s Kevin Mirallas decided to really wind up Arsenal’s midfield lynchpin Jack Wilshere. With a perfectly-executed schoolyard trick, Mirallas sprayed Wilshere with his water bottle, sparking the desired reaction from England’s young star.

Fortunately, a beady-eyed cameraman managed to catch the incident, so you can just click and watch above. Enjoy!
