Manchester United’s newest signing is not named ‘Flacao’

image

Sometimes spelling is hard.

Manchester United was having issues with their latest signing and the fan merchandise to go with it.

Meet Radamel Falcao … or should we say Flacao.

The ESPN editor, Alex Shaw, who posted it happily provided some other examples of Manchester United’s typographical errors.

Maybe those typos will turn into collector’s editions. There’s a market in there somewhere.

Radamel Falcao, Steven Gerrard try out for MLB career

image

As has become tradition, many of the best European clubs are in the United States for a preseason tour, and once again, quite a few stars are finding time to try their hands at American sports.

Last summer, you may remember Juventus star Andrea Pirlo trying out at American Football. This year, baseball seems to be the sport of choice.

While in Miami for Monaco’s friendly vs Colombian side, Radamel Falcao went to the Marlins Stadium batting cages to take a few cuts, and he was quite impressive, too. Falcao lined a couple of frozen ropes straight back to the pitcher, almost decapitating him on one of them! WATCH:

Meanwhile, on the northern end of the Atlantic coast, in Boston, Liverpool players also took some batting practice before their friendly match against Roma at Fenway Park.

Based on his form, Steven Gerrard might need to take a few pointers from Falcao next time they see each other:

Messi, Neymar, Falcao and Aguero sing like dorks in video

What does it take to get Lionel Messi, Neymar, Sergio Aguero, Radamel Falcao, Eric Abidal, Cesc Fabregas and Gerard Pique to sing like huge dorks in a music video? The last name on that list probably gives it away.

Shakira recorded a World Cup version of her song “La La La” for Brazil this summer, and recruited some of the world’s biggest soccer stars to appear in the video for it.

See? Even some of the world’s biggest stars like to lip-sync just like us. They even look just as dorky doing it, too.

But the real star of the video, however, is Shakira and Gerard’s son, Milan, as he adorably plays soccer with an elephant. Not bad for a 16-month-old!

Falcao returns to training, but is unlikely to be fully fit for World Cup

Five months after tearing his left ACL in a French Cup match, Monaco forward Radamel Falcao is back in training.

However, his chances at fully recovering in time for the World Cup appear to be slim. In fact, French newspaper L’Equipe has already reported that the Colombian striker will miss this summer’s spectacle, despite Jose Pekerman including him in his provisional squad.

With a little under a month to go, we’re not ready to rule him out entirely just yet. But Falcao still has a tall mountain to climb.

Monaco players send hospitalized Falcao best wishes pre-match

While Zlatan Ibrahimovic is staying busy filming Volvo commercials, his Monaco rival Radamel Falcao remains in the hospital recovering from serious knee surgery. In their first match without him, the enitre Monaco team walked out donning T-shirts bearing Falcao’s face and the message “Fuerza Tigre.”

El Tigre, who according to his surgeon still has a chance to recover in time for the World Cup, quickly took to Instragram to show that he received and appreciated the message from his teammates, writing (translated) “From Porto watching the team, thank you for the strength you give me, I am here to give you mine!”

Falcao injures knee, could spell doom for Monaco and Colombia hopes

Radamel Falcao was stretchered off with a nasty knee injury during Monaco’s Coupe de France clash on Wednesday, spelling potential doom to both Monaco’s Ligue 1 and Colombia’s World Cup hopes. Falcao picked up the injury shortly after scoring the opening goal against Monts Or Azergues.

Whether Falcao will miss the rest of the season and the summer spectacle remains to be seen, but initial reports are not encouraging. Monaco released a short statement in regards to Falcao, saying the striker was hit in the left knee and that the club “must await further tests in the coming days to clarify the exact nature of the injury.”

Perhaps a better question is why Falcao was starting against a fourth-tier outfit, which was easily beaten 3-0, in the first place. It may just cost Monaco their run at a first Ligue 1 title since 2000, and Colombia — a dark horse candidate for the World Cup — their best player in Brazil.

The 60 most valuable footballers

image

Ever wondered who the most valuable footballers in Europe are at this minute? What about the 60 most valuable footballers? Well, you’re in luck.

The International Centre for Sports Studies (CIES) has put the most-coveted soccer players into a nifty little table. The ranking is sorted by predicting the price range of the respective player. For example, the list has Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi at the top, with his price tag ranked at around £200m.

The CIES Football Observatory has certainly been hard-pressed to produce this, and with the transfer market officially opening tomorrow, it’s a nice little taster for what’s to come.

What do you think of the list? Barca, United and Real Madrid are all tied on seven players a piece, but there’s no Neymar to be seen. Predictable names such as Gareth Bale and Edinson Cavani feature heavily.

Falcao’s special edition boots come with designer watches. Price? $40K

image

Falcao has teamed up with Puma and official World Cup timekeepers Hublot for a consumer deal of a lifetime. The new Monaco signing’s special edition EvoSpeed boots are designed to accompany a limited edition line of designer watches, Falcao-approved of course.

There are two types of bundles: the “King Gold” watch costs a cool $40,000; the “Unico Titanium” is priced at a more “reasonable” $17,000.

Here’s the official description:

“Only 100 pieces are available; 60 titanium and 40 King Gold priced at US$17,000 and US$40,000. Working with Hublot, Puma have created an evoSPEED 1.2 colourway for each watch, numbered 1-60 and 1-40, and the concept was first presented at the Basel Watch fair.

“The lateral side of the boot bears no secondary branding, and have been left blank so each will be personally signed by Falcao. The boots will only be available with each watch sold, and come together in a unique casing.”

Well then! Excuse me while I rush to grab one of these…not.
