Amalfitano heroics could earn permanent Baggies deal

Morgan Amalfitano was one of West Brom’s heroes in Saturday’s stunning 2-1 victory at Manchester United and it looks like his loan spell could be transformed into a permanent deal. The French winger opened the scoring at Old Trafford and his recent performances could earn him a move to The Hawthorns from his parent club Marseille.

We’ve got this and more on the future of United goalkeeper David de Gea. Just click here.

David de Gea signs Thiago’s game ball: “See you in Manchester”

image

Thiago Alcantara was the hero of yesterday’s Under-21 European Championship final, netting a hat-trick in Spain’s 4-2 win over Italy. Afterwards, the Barcelona talent received a game ball that was littered with messages from his teammates, one of which is veeeeery interesting.

David de Gea supposedly wrote this sly little note on Thiago’s ball:

"Nos vemos en Manchester." Or, in English: "See you in Manchester"

Hmmmmmmmmmm….

With recent reports suggesting that the current Premier League champions are interested in triggering Thiago’s £18m release clause, this unmistakeably suggestive message from the current United goalkeeper could indicate that a move is now only a matter of time. Barcelona, though, are being advised by Pique not to give up their young jewel. We’ll see I guess!

Here’s the closeup of the ball:

Andy Carroll takes flight into De Gea

image

In West Ham United’s 2-2 draw with Manchester United, Andy Carroll makes a bold attempt to take off and fly. Unfortunately for him, Manchester United keeper David De Gea found himself in the way. No card was given, much to the dismay of Sir Alex Ferguson, but in Carroll’s defense, it certainly appeared he was simply making a play on the ball.

Should he have been booked? Watch the play at full speed and decide for yourself.

Ferguson’s gamble pays off for United vs. Madrid

image

By: Dermot Corrigan

Sir Alex Ferguson gambled Wednesday night – and won.

Manchester United bravely fielded an attacking lineup against a fierce Real Madrid side and came away with a precious away goal in their 1-1 tie. United now head back to Old Trafford in the driver’s seat: a scoreless draw would be enough to see them into the Champions League quarterfinals.

De Gea must prove worth at United

image

What has Stoke City signing Jack Butland got to do with the future of Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea? Plenty, if the papers are to be believed. Butland is a potential England international in the making, but only wants first-team football, so that’s why he’s been loaned back to Birmingham. Yes, yes, yes, but what about De Gea? Well the story is that Man United will make a move for Stoke’s Asmir Begovic in the summer if De Gea continues his error-strewn ways at Old Trafford. Check out the rest of the rumors the day after the night before by clicking here.

Tottenham stunned Manchester United in Fergie time with a late goal from, who else, Red Devils killer Clint Dempsey!

Spurs made the title race just a little more interesting after Demps scored his 4th goal of 2013 (after just 3 in 2012 with Tottenham) in the very last minute of stoppage time. Some will question David de Gea’s weak clearance here, but in the end, the tie was well deserved after Spurs dominated the second half.
