Gareth Bale issued speeding ticket for brilliant solo goal

The local police in Valencia have quite the sense of humor. After Gareth Bale score his absurdly amazing solo goal to give Real Madrid the Copa del Rey trophy, the cops issued him a fake but totally hilarious speeding ticket.

Well played, Valencia cops.

Not only that, but there’s some great humor in the details as well.

Dumb fan pegs Cristiano Ronaldo with a lighter

At halftime of the second leg of the Copa del Rey semifinal between Real Madrid and Atletico Mardrid, some numbskull decided to toss his lighter at Cristiano Ronaldo as the superstar was walking off the pitch.

A lighter might not seem like it could do damage, but with the rate it appears to be traveling, Ronaldo is lucky it hit him on the side of the head and not in the eye.

Dear sports fans, don’t be like this idiot.

Copa del Rey semifinals provide hilarious yet disturbing footage

The Copa del Rey semifinals pitted all four of Spain’s Champions League participants this season against one another, promising two sets of exciting cup ties.

This is not the excitement we had in mind.

In the Barcelona-Sociedad tie at the Camp Nou, we may have seen one of the most comical, horrendous own goals of the year (and it’s only February!). After a nice move from Barca ended with a shot against the post, Soceidad’s Gorku Elustondo smashed the rebound straight off goalkeeper Eñaut Zubikarai's face and into the net.

Yeah, watch that video one more time. You deserve a laugh.

Meanwhile, in Wednesday’s early game between Real and Atletico Madrid, we may have found our early leader in the clubhouse for “Ugly Face of the Year” — a fairly new award, one we just came up with actually. The lucky candidate: Pepe, who aimed some fresh snot at Diego Costa’s direction.

And for all of you wondering who last year’s winner was, there really could only be one choice:  image

Simply terrifying.

Iker Casillas hasn’t given up a goal in three months

Nov. 27, 2013. That’s the last time someone scored on Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas. It was Galatasaray’s Umut Bulut in the Champions League.

Since then, Casillas and the Real Madrid defense have been impenetrable. On Tuesday, as Los Blancos booked their spot in the Copa del Rey semifinals, Casillas broke the club record of 682 minutes without conceding a goal. He passed Paco Buyo’s mark of 658 minutes, set in the 1994-95 season.

But what’s even more impressive is that in those 11 hours and 22 minutes, Casillas has only had to make 13 saves. For those doing the math, that’s less than two saves every 90 minutes.

He should treat his defense to a nice night on the town.

Neymar leaves Barcelona match with ankle injury

When Neymar went down in the 23rd minute in Barcelona’s Copa del Rey match against Getafe, Culés held their breath and feared the worst.

The rising Barca star was down for several minutes being tended to by the club physios after awkwardly rolling his ankle. He needed assistance off the pitch, clearly unable to put much weight on his right ankle.

Barcelona confirmed the initial reports that Neymar sprained a tendon in his ankle, but more tests will be conducted on Friday. Hopefully it’s nothing worse, and the injury won’t keep him sidelined for too long. Until then, Barca fans and Brazilians will continue to hold their collective breath:
