Adnan Januzaj: A star is born at the Stadium of Light

Adnan Januzaj rewarded David Moyes for giving the youngster his first Premier League start on Saturday, scoring both goals in a 2-1 Manchester United win over Sunderland.

The 18-year-old midfielder’s first strike evened the score in the 55th minute, seeming to finally spark a lackluster United side to life:

Januzaj barely spent any time basking in the glory of his debut goal, scoring a second, even better one less than 10 minutes later. This rocket in the 61st minute would be the game-winner for United, and sealed a day the rising star won’t soon forget.

Januzaj was in Belgium, but has yet to commit to a country for international football. He joined United in 2011 from Anderlecht, and has quickly risen through the ranks this year under Moyes. He has been one of the few bright spots in a poor start for the defending Premier League champions, and the team can manage to turn the season around, you can bet he’ll play a role in it.

Luis Suarez scores brace on Premier League return

Luis Suarez scored a brace on his Premier League return to lead Liverpool past winless Sunderland on Sunday. Suarez linked up with Daniel Sturridge on both goals after having served his 10-match ban for biting Chelsea’s Branislav Ivanovic in the arm.

On the Uruguayan’s first, Sturridge dribbled past two men on the right wing and delivered a low cross into the box, which Suarez met perfectly for the goal. Turning away to celebrate, Suarez revealed his undershirt welcoming his new son into the world. Benjamin, the striker’s second child, was born on Thursday.

Suarez completed his brace late in the second half on a brilliant counterattack. Receiving Simon Mignolet’s quick toss, Suarez lobbed the ball across the field to Sturridge, who got around a defender and played it back to the wide-open Uruguayan at the far post. It was Liverpool’s first second-half goal of the season.

The performance should recall memories of last season’s prolific partnership between the Suarez and Sturridge following the latter’s transfer from Chelsea last winter. With Suarez now back in the side, Liverpool look even better than ever during their surprise start.
