Bicycle kick followed by a back flip, no big deal

We may have witnessed one of the top individual moments of the season during a match this past weekend in Sweden’s Allsvenskan league.

Set up by a brilliant cross, AIK’s Kennedy Igboananike unleashed a beautiful bicycle kick to give his team the lead over Halmstad BK. Just in case his athleticism was in question, Igboananike goes above and beyond and finishes it off with a celebratory back flip.

Is this a contender for goal of the year?

Hey, did you guys know the Bundesliga is back?

Schalke and Hannover served up a great first dish to start 2013 in the German league with a 5-4 Schalke win Friday night. None of the nine goals were as memorable as the one that effectively didn’t matter.

Check out Philippe Mexes of Milan with the goal of the day! His bicycle kick from the edge of the box reminds us of Ibrahimovic, but for my money this one’s even better.

Mexes takes the ball with a classy first touch, chesting it to himself, then he beats the goalkeeper who’s actually in the net. Oh yeah, and this is coming from a defender!

Fenerbache striker Moussa Sow has had a nice week. First, he received a FIFA Puskas Award nomination for this strike against Galatasary earlier this year.

Then over the weekend Sow shows us that his acrobatic bicycle kick was no fluke, perhaps even bettering his effort this time around. What a goal!
