When your team is already up 4-0, might as well try something crazy.
With his Deportivo Quito side already up four goals in the second half, Alex Colon unleashed from almost midfield and his strike rocketed off the inside of the crossbar and in for the goal of the week, if not month.
And yes, it’s the same team that brought us last week’s incredible goal. Deportivo seems like a fun team to play for, don’t they?
Chelsea fans, keep your eye on this kid.
Blues prospect Nathaniel Chalobah, who is on loan with Watford this season, scored this thunderous blast from about 30 yards out against Leicester. He hit it so hard, you can barely see the ball as it rockets into the net. My goodness!
It was an important goal, too. Chalobah’s strike was the difference in the game, keeping third-placed Watford’s hopes alive for automatic promotion to the Premier League. Had the Hornets lost, second-placed Hull City could have clinched promotion.
One last thing: Chalobah is only 18.
Goal of the month? How about goal of the season!?
Aston Villa’s Matthew Lowton scored this screamer against Stoke City on Saturday, and what an important goal it was, too. Relegation-threatened Villa needed a win, and Lowton’s goal in the 87th gave them one!
You’ve been waiting all month, and here they are: the top ten goals of the month of March.
It was definitely a good month of stunning strikes!
Messi’s opener in the 5th minute was an absolute stunner and set the tone for the rest of the match. Watch as he curls one perfectly into the top corner while surrounded by FOUR Milan defenders. It also happened to be Messi’s second-fastest goal he ever scored in the Champions League!
You know how once in a blue moon you see a goal scored from right around midfield that just makes your jaw drop?
Well, today SuperSport United’s Mor Diouf decided to up the ante a bit and score one from 70 (that’s seventy!) yards out! What a hit!
Newcastle striker Papiss Cisse wowed us last year with that beautiful volley against Chelsea, a goal many said was the season’s best.
Today, Cisse was up to his old tricks and scored a wonderful goal against Southampton: a thunderous dipping volley off one bounce, about 30 yards away. Now that’s certainly the goal of the weekend (with apologies to Rafael) and a Goal of the Month Nominee! #GOMonFOX
Goal of the year candidate?
Check out this ridiculous scorpion kick goal scored by Portuguese midfielder Ricardo Fernandes in a first division match in Cyprus!
If it fails, you look like an idiot. If it doesn’t, you just found yourself your career highlight right there. Nuts!
Number 2 on our 2012 MLS Best Goals countdown belongs to the Seattle Sounders’ Freddy Montero and his thunderous strike from 35 yards out against the Galaxy.
No doubt the best long-range strike of the season, but if not Montero, then who netted the Goal of the Year?? Find out tomorrow!
