PSV Eindhoven supporters staged a seemingly strange protest at their team’s stadium.
At PSV’s season home opener against NAC Breda, fans waved banners and signs objecting to the latest stadium Wi-Fi upgrades. They argue that adding more tech, such as Wi-Fi, detracts and distracts from the game itself. A large banner, reading “F@#$ Wi-Fi, support the team” made some supporters’ feelings pretty clear.
PSV’s most vocal supporter groups argue that the football club has made several moves, including adding Wi-Fi, in a push to change or expand the types of people coming to games. Stadium organizers have also started clamping down on standing in sections where supporters have preferred not to sit for a number of seasons.
Stadiums are still working out the best way to deal with technology. Last week, Manchester United announced it was banning iPads and other tablets from Old Trafford.
