Neymar is ready for the World Cup

imageNeymar had one goal and two assists against Panama. (Action Images)

Brazil played its penultimate World Cup warm-up match against Panama on Tuesday, though it also could be described as Neymar’s own personal tune-up game.

The Selecao’s great hope used the game to play himself into tournament form, opening the scoring with a magnificent free kick in the first half, then conjuring up a magical back-heel assist for Hulk in the second.

Pin-point accuracy? Check.

Back-heel touch? Check and check.

Brazil won the friendly match, 4-0, but more importantly, Neymar’s confidence is through the roof right now. Can the World Cup start already?

PSG party! Ibrahimovic, Cavani try to one-up each other

Can we even act surprised anymore?

Zlatan just keeps doing what Zlatan does, his latest act of magic coming on this ludicrous, kung-fu style, backheel golazo while being blanketed by two defenders. It’s like Ibrahimovic doesn’t even register that he’s not supposed to score goals in such positions. I know it’s an overused phrase but… he just… he just scores when he wants.

It was Zlatan’s first of two goals on the day, but at halftime coach Laurent Blanc decided to rest his star against an overwhelmed Bastia side. Not like the opposition could breathe any easier, though. PSG, you may recall, also employ Edinson Cavani.

With Zlatan letting his hair down on the bench, his equally shaggy and prolific Uruguayan counterpart took over the goalscoring duties, bagging a brace of his own in the second half for a 4-0 win. For his first goal, Cavani attempted to out-Zlatan the great Zlatan with this brilliant solo effort:

Long hair, don’t care.

Coming soon to Emirates: Backheels, lots and lots of backheels

DISCLAIMER: Might want to put the video on mute. Good grief, what choice of music!

As if Arsenal fans needed another reason to be pumped up about the Mesut Ozil signing, here’s a 2.5 minute compilation of disgusting backheel passes by the German assist master. Some of these are truly jaw-dropping!

It’s no wonder Ozil’s former Real Madrid teammates are furious over the club’s decision to sell the 24-year-old. Cristiano Ronaldo, who profited regularly from Ozil specials, has been quoted as saying he is livid over the sale, while Sergio Ramos has said “If it were up to me, Özil would be one of the last to go.”

It’s not hard to see why, but Real Madrid’s loss is the Gunners’ gain. Emirates will have lots of backheels to look forward to this season.

Cameramen have soccer skills, too.

Well, maybe not all of them. But this sideline cameraman took advantage of a brief opportunity to show off a little footy finesse when an errant ball came his way.

The man — dressed in a full robe, adding a degree of difficulty — backheeled the ball from his spot on the sideline right into the hands of the player set to take the throw in. Not only that, but he did it without taking his hands off his camera! Talk about a perfect execution.
