Lionel Messi scores hat-trick, passes Maradona on Argentina scoring list

June 15th, 2013

Guessing the tax scandal hasn’t been much of a distraction for Lionel Messi, at least not on the field.

Messi scored three of Argentina’s four goals in an easy friendly win over Guatemala last night, pushing him ahead of legend Diego Maradona on the all-time scoring list and into second place, where he is tied with Hernan Crespo on 35 goals.

So who does Messi have left to catch? The one and only Gabriel Batistuta! “Batigol” tops the list with 56 golazos, so Messi still has quite a bit of work to do in that department.
